Zuko woke up with the sunlight shining on his face and a knock on his door "Time to get up nephew it's your first day of the senior year" his uncle said Zuko and his sister Azula have been living with their uncle Iroh since Zuko was 12 and Azula was 11 their father Ozai abused Zuko and sexually abused Azula their mother left when they were both young their father both left Zuko and Azula scared Zuko physically burning his left eye with a drying iron out of drunken anger and Azula mentally with the sexual abuse once Iroh caught wind of this he drove down to Richmond, Virginia and called CPS making Ozai lose custody of both kids and taking the kids to Chicago with him becoming their new guardian.

"Thanks, Uncle" Zuko said as he stared up at the ceiling his uncle owned a tea shop which was under their apartment they lived in. Zuko got out of bed and put on a gray hoodie with some blue jeans and went to the bathroom as he looked up to the mirror he stared at the scar on his eye remembering that horrible night "are you going to stand there starring at yourself or are you going to get ready because I've got to take a shower" his sister said leaning on the door frame "yeah sorry" Zuko said grabbing his toothbrush and brushing his teeth Zuko will admit Azula is kinda bitchy but he loves her "the bathrooms all yours" Zuko finished and walked out of the bathroom "I'll be waiting in the shop when your finished" Zuko said as he walked down the hall to the tea shop.

As Zuko opened the shop's door he heard his uncle in the back say "Welcome to the Jasmine Dragon what could I get you today" Iroh walked out from the back "Oh it's you" his uncle said looking at Zuko "what would you like" Iroh asked, "Coffee" Zuko asked, "You know this is a tea shop you really should be ordering tea" Iroh joked "Then why do you sell coffee" Zuko smiled Iroh laughed and said, "are my jokes really getting that old" "well I have been living with you for 6 years" Iroh laughed poured Zuko his cup of coffee and handed it to him "Thanks, Uncle" Zuko said taking a sip of his coffee. Zuko sat at a table for 10 minutes before Azula came down "You ready Zuzu" Azula asked Zuko looked over at his sister she was wearing a plain red shirt and black skinny jeans "Yep" Zuko said finishing his coffee and paying his uncle "No need it's on me" Iroh said refusing Zuko's money "are you sure" Zuko asked concerned "positive your my nephew you shouldn't pay for your drinks at your uncle's shop" Zuko put the money back in his pocket "Thanks Uncle" he said with a smile "no problem now go your going be late" Iroh shooed them out so they wouldn't be late Zuko and Azula went to Zuko's car got in and went to their first day of school.
