Shijima
Clack... clack... clack...
"Shijima-sama, good morning!"
"Good morning."
As she passed the main door and walked across the lobby she was greeted by different staff along the way to her own office. Her black hair swaying back and forth against her shoulders as her high heels continue to knock against the floor.
'Walking along this hallway has never been so tiring...' she thought to herself as she continued to walk slowly, bowing her head slightly as she pass down the long corridor.
"Oh, Shijima-sensei...good morning!"
It's her apprentice Shochi, greeting her with a jubilant smile.
"Morning..."
She answered, slightly rubbing her sides with her knucles as she pass by her.
"I'll get something in the pantry. Do you want anything?"
"Hot coffee please."
"Okay..."
Shijima lets out a yawn as soon as she entered her office and throws her shoulder bag on the couch right beside the wall. Then she sits down a bit, kicking off her high heels and twitching her feet as she stretch her legs.
After a minute she slid on her white robe and sneakers while rubbing a silk cloth on her thick eyeglasses. And finally glaced on her wall mirror before she turned around and sat on her swivel chair.
She gave out another yawn, this time it's a bit longer than the first one.
"Another busy day."
She haven't completed eight hours of sleep since she was assigned as the chief executive officer of the Sand Hospital. The moment she accepted the offer she felt all the responsibilities weighting heavy in her shoulders. Of course, as she pledge her loyalty to the kazekage she cannot refuse whatever she asked of her, specially being incharge of the medical department, which is even in her dreams she never wanted to take part.
With her abilities as a medical nin, she's okay with helping the villagers and aiding in their needs, which is very basic, but to be a part of the inner circle and hold a position is way too much for her, one of the very reasons why she refused to be a part of the Suna council.
'Ahh... responsibilities...'
One word which takes away all your freedom and free time to the point where you can't even sleep, eat nor drink, due to many hours of working even on holidays.
Sigh...
She begins her day by sorting out the pile of papers on her desk, while sipping a cup of coffee Shochi had brought her. She scrolled her eyes on each sheet of paper as she take her time, reading them all one by one. Most of it were requisition forms, delivery receipts, incident reports and endorsements.
After an hour or two, she begins to feel light-headed. Sleep had been really rare and as she closed her eyes, a memory crossed her mind...
-------------
"Mother, when I grow up, I want to be like you!"
"Oh Shijima dear, when you grow up you will be a fine lady, even better than me..."
She stroked her hair lovingly as she combed it from the top down to her nape. Since her father left after her young sister had been born, he had never returned. And when she asked her mom where her dad is, she would always answer her "he's on a mission" until she got tired of asking and never asked again.
Her dad was one of the former kazekage's aid. They say he's the best medical ninja in their clan and ranked as the most sought-after med nin during the fourth shinobi war. He's a very important person for their tribe and he's their pride when it comes to his healing abilities.
Others call him blessed, but for young Shijima, his abilities were a curse. It's the reason why he was taken away from them. The very reason why he never came back...
