Wei Wuxian let's out a puff of air as he puts down the last box inside the pantry.
Taking a moment of rest he leans against stocked up boxes, crosses his arms and closes his eyes falling into a sort of meditation.
It wasn't like he was drained from the physical work, he's always been well trained and exercised often however his mind is drained by uncertainty of a special someone's intentions.

The little ball of adoration has quickly sneaked his way into his heart and he often finds himself spoiling the boy without even realizing. Why did he care so much for a child he has no connections with.
Although he probably should he can't ignore the overwhelming joy seeing those dark eyes hiding the hints of ashen blue immediately search for his when entering his proximity.
He shouldn't allow the the boy to become attached to him especially because he won't tell him who his father is.
Not knowing who the child belongs to is slightly worrying especially because Wei Wuxian already knows that he is too far gone already.
He has grown too attached and at this point he doesn't even care what he is getting himself into.

There are moments in life when you just know something and that is what he is experiencing right now, he just knows he has to keep the little bundle of joy close because they are meant to have a part in each others life.
Sure, he doesn't know what his role is supposed to be yet but he just knows he cannot abandon this child.
He can see how the boy gives his all to make his single parent proud and Wei Wuxian has been in those very same shoes, losing his parents at a young age and then being granted the blessing of his Uncle Jiang Fengmian taking him in under his wings.
Being given a second chance of a family makes you willing to do almost anything to not lose such a precious gift.
All he wanted was for his uncle to not feel that taking him in was a mistake or that giving him a privileged life wasn't a regretful thing.

He sees little Yuan's passion, his strong will to please his father and earn his pride but it also worries him, the child needs love as well. It's not good to push him too hard.

Wei Wuxian's relationship with his Aunt was feisty and he always felt like a disappointment in her eyes but he still always did his best in excelling in everything he did. Unfortunately that didn't make things better as she would accuse him of trying to rival her son, which he would never dream of doing.

If anyone respected his brother it was Wei Wuxian, he had even taken a stab wound for him.
Years ago he protected his brother from kidnappers, to think that anyone could even dare to try and steal his brother.
It didn't matter he was only at the young age of twelve he fought those crocks to no end, yes, a stab wound had been nothing compared to the state of those tasting the fury of his fists.
He knew that his brother had a constant danger pointed at him as the heir of one of the top leading companies in the world.
Kidnapping him would grant a huge amount of power, he himself wouldn't dream of carrying this burden, still selflessly he shared it for his beloved Shidi.
He would gladly take away that danger not just because of the gratitude of being saved by his father but because he is his brother, a blood bond really has no huge meaning to him, a brother is a brother.

Family is family even though he really wishes to punch the sorry ass face of the peacock marrying his sister, he secretly will still accept the man as family, he after all provided him of his most adorable nephew.
He hasn't seen the feisty little guy in a while, he knows they have been away on a business trip, giving Jin Ling some taste of the world on the way, that reminds him he has to give his shijie a call and ask for a meetup.

"Wei Ying."

The baker owner is brought out of his thoughts as his trusty manager and personal best friend Xiao Xingchen enters the pantry and calls for him softly, an attempt at to not startle him.
Dark eyes with a hint of violet grey looks at him slightly concerned at first but his features turns warm as he realize his shidi has only gotten lost in his thoughts again.

"A special someone is awaiting your precious time."

Xiao Xingchen immediately notice the shift in Wei Wuxian's body language, the joy practically radiates from his skin.
It makes a smile creep up on his lips as he knows how much the little boy making daily visits has affected his dear shidi.
For a while he has been worried about Wei Wuxian, the cheerful handsome man has still not settled down with anyone or made any signs of doing so, it worried him that he was lonely.
Then the child had entered through the door and then and there the boy stole the heart yearning for someone to love and treasure.

Xiao Xingchen walks out of the pantry in time to see little Yuan wrapped around one of Wei Wuxian's legs as said man laughs cheerfully with his head tipped back.
The sound pleases everyone's ears and the café is settled into a joyful mood baring witness to such an adorable scene.
Almost all of the seats are occupied by teenagers finished with school, adults probably taking a break from work and even a few elders smiling at the intimate moment that looks a lot like a father and son relationship.

Wei Wuxian looks down in perfect time to catch the dark ashen bluish eyes always seeming to sparkle when they meet his.
His lips unconsciously spreads into a genuine smile and his hand ruffles the always neat shoulder length hair ever so softly.
The black silky strands are slightly damp indicating the child didn't properly dry his hair after practice.
He knows it's for him and sighing not out of annoyance but out of feeling precious he walks behind the counter still with the light boy secured around his leg and picks up the softest towel he has, a towel he had secretly bought just for these moments.
Wei Wuxian picks up Lan Sizhui into his arms, the boy immediately taking the chance and giving him a tight hug, his heart melts if even possible after every adorable moment he's been gifted by the child.

"Ehe~ A-yuan did you miss me so much?"

Wei Wuxian can't help the giggle leaving his lips and his question intending to sound like teasing betrays him and reveal his hope. The tiny fingers bury themselves into his hair and shirt, gripping on to him like he could disappear at any minute and it only makes Wei Wuxian's heart turn even more mushy.
This child surely will be the death of him.
Wei Wuxian returns the embrace making sure that the tiny frame knows he is returning his affection, the close proximity is comfortable and relaxing like the feeling you get when you're at home.

Entering the employees only private room, he sits down at one of the chairs and starts gently drying the boys hair with patting motions, he chuckles as the boy sounds like a  purring cat from being spoiled once again.
Feeling contempt Wei Wuxian starts to hum a gentle tune slightly rocking their bodies back and forth almost like lulling the child to sleep, he doesn't see Lan Sizhui's face but feeling his tiny hands grip onto him makes him sure that the boy is not complaining.

"There~ A-yuan your hair is dry, you shouldn't walk around with it damp, you could get sick."

Wei Wuxian almost bites his lip, perhaps he stepped over a line, the last thing he would want is Yuan getting upset at him for sounding like a father.
Finally the adorable little face reveals itself for him to see and Wei Wuxian feels relief at seeing those eyes still sparkle as they stare directly into his soul.

"Sorry, I just wanted to see Wei Gege."

How could he simply be upset or scold someone for being so honest while also being the cutest child he's ever seen, oh he really has lost hasn't he, his very being already belongs to the boy.
He strokes the soft fair cheek and smiles, he wonders did the universe put them together for the boys sake or his.

"Aiya~ Wei Gege isn't going anywhere, if you get sick Wei Gege will be sad."

It is the truth, would the boy get sick they wouldn't be able to meet and worse it would be because of him the child got sick in the first place.
He has noticed the child will show up for an hour sharp each visit, he can never stay any longer but he also refuses to leave any minute sooner.
What could this child be hiding from him, he knows the boy clearly comes from a well financed upbringing judging by his personality, clothes and well educated behavior but it worries him, shouldn't the boy have someone looking after him, it is dangerous letting the boy wander on his own.
He started walking the boy to the bus station when noticing he kept on coming back to his café, then gradually he started to wait for the boy's daily visit and then he started to plan pastries for the boy's daily visits and before he knew it he started to meet the boy halfway from his school just because he didn't want to wait a few extra minutes.
Yes, Wei Wuxian has lost against the child indeed.
