In the Moonlight, she will show you,

All the questions, that were kept from you,

Go in search until she's found,

Resist the evil all around.

                  Lennox;

I lay in bed and stared at the ceiling. That damn singing resounding through my mind. I rolled over and pulled the pillow over my head. I knew that it would do nothing to stop the sound. It never did. I sat upright, throwing the pillow across the room.
'What the fuck do you want from me?' I growled, looking around the darkness knowing full well that there wasn't going to be anybody there. 'Seriously? What is your problem? Why do you feel the need to keep me awake?' I snapped, clenching my teeth and closing my eyes. If this kept up, then I was going to be in serious trouble. How long could a person go without actually getting a decent night's sleep? A sound that reminded me of a siren's song, continued ringing in my ears. I rolled my eyes and climbed from my bed, throwing the bedsheets from me and leaping to my feet. What was the point in trying to sleep? I clearly wasn't going to be drifting off any time soon. I slowly wandered over to my bookshelf, scanning through the ancient grimoires that lined the shelves. My grandfather had been raising me to learn everything that I could for when "my time arrived." Whatever that meant. That was one thing that I really hated about the man that raised me. Everything was so cryptic. And then there was that annoying lullaby that I heard almost every night. At this rate I was going to be insane by the time I reached 19. I snapped my fingers and watched as the sconces on the wall sprang to life, the magical blue flame illuminating my room; brighter than should have been possible. I watched for a minute as the flames flickered and danced, casting shadows around me, before settling once more. I grabbed the first book that I saw and sighed. I leant against the wall and slowly allowed myself to slide down until I rested my head on my knees, dropping the book on the floor. Kit, my familiar rose from under the window and came over to me, resting his huge head on my thigh. I smiled down to my tiger and scratched the spot between his ears, causing him to push against my touch and purr loudly.
'It scares me you know.' I whispered, glancing up to the ceiling once more. 'I can literally feel my power growing every day; getting so much stronger, and I don't know how much longer I can hide it.' I continued, flexing my free hand and watching as my magic erupted from my palms, swirling around me like deep indigo mist. I waved my hands through it for a moment and watched the way that it danced and twinkled; reminding me of a starry night's sky. I smiled to myself. It really was a beautiful gift to have. But at the same time, it came with a lot of responsibility, and a lot of expectations from me. I don't know how much longer I can keep this all concealed from my grandfather. If he knew how much my power had grown over the past year, I feared what he would do. I just had to make sure that I did everything possible to ensure that he didn't find out. My watch beeped causing me to glance down at it. 3am. Wow. Was there any point in even trying to sleep now? I folded my legs under myself; causing Kit to look up at me with one open eye, before rolling onto his back and pressing himself against me. I placed the book on my lap, flipping it open and staring at the aged, yellowing pages. I held one hand out over the pages; while still stroking Kits white belly with the other, and closed my eyes, summoning my magic from deep within myself, pushing it forward and watching as the pages fluttered open. I had tried this so many times, and still, it always led me to the same pages.
'Great!' I muttered to myself. I was back on the pages that were written in that strange language. The letters were symbols, all different shapes connected with little bubbles. Was I supposed to understand this? My grandfather always went on about how special I am. But yet, my magic couldn't even give me the answers that I was looking for; I guess that meant that he was wrong about me. I waved my hand and watched as the book went skidding across the room, before climbing to my feet and wandering over to the window. I threw it open and stared up at the sky. Stars twinkled and danced around a beautiful half-moon. I needn't have looked to know what phase of the moon it was though. It's like my body knows. I feel this strange ache deep in my bones, longing for me to stand under the moonlight, feeling as the moonbeams washed over my naked body. The sirens song sounded out around me again, this time feeling different. This time bringing with it the feeling of closure. I stared down at my hands and noticed that my skin was sparkling like snow under the light of a full moon.
'What the...' I whispered shaking my head. I looked back out the window and threw my hands forward, summoning my magic from deep within. I watched as the dark mist billowed out from my palms and shimmered in the night air. It swirled around and moved as though it held a life of its own. I blinked a few times before pushing more of my power through my hands. The mist came thick and fast, joining the magic that was already dancing in the air. I froze. What was that? The mist had coiled around itself and was taking on the image of a... wolf?
I stepped back and gasped as my ethereal wolf began charging towards my window. I tripped on the book and toppled to the ground, seconds before the wolf-shape clamped its jaws down on me. The moment it had, it burst back into mist before dispersing into the air.
'What. The. Fuck?' I mumbled, glancing around the room and noticing that everything seemed to look the way it had moments before. What was that? Had I done that? Was my power growing to the point that it was too much for me to handle? I need the answers to all my questions. And I needed them now. The sirens song filled my mind one more time, seemingly trying to answer my unasked questions. I just wish I knew what this was all about. I closed my eyes and silently spoke to Nyx. She was the goddess of darkness after all. Wasn't she supposed to answer all of my questions?
'Please, Nyx. I am begging you. Please, just send me all the answers that I am searching for, I don't know how much longer I can take this not knowing.' I felt tears burn behind my closed eyelids and clenched my teeth trying my hardest to get my emotions under control. Conceal and don't feel! Then I heard it. A sound that seemed so familiar yet alien to me. That wasn't the sirens call. That was a... a wolf's howl.
