CHAPTER ONE:

THE DAWN OF THE PEARLITES.

Pearl, a lonely Pearlite believed to be the last of her kind after the shadow curse named "Gehim" swept over her camp, works at Lynn's inn with her one friend Addar. She used to be good friends with Lynn back when she was alive, and after Lynn's death, Pearl obtained the Inn. Pearl was working a late shift, kicking out the remaining drunks when she found one to be her childhood friend, Alex. Alex is a human, the owner of a single Skywing named Atar.

Pearl leaves the inn with her old friend Alex to catch up with his life. She hasn't seen him in 4 years. Alex explains he is now a weaponsmith, working with an Irynn named Callim. He then goes on to explain how Callim had gone missing a few weeks ago.

Pearl finds herself staying at Alex's house instead of the inn, and gets to see Atar for the first time in a while. Atar is very excited to see her and knocks over a book labeled "Urions". Pearl asks about the book and Alex explains his research on the shapeshifters. Pearl learns they enjoy taking immense amounts of power from the souls of innocent people, becoming superior beings and overruling other packs of their same species. Pearl can't fathom how disgusting that is for some reason and Alex argues that they probably aren't all the same.

Pearl leaves the next morning to go back to her normal job, and you learn about her long dead brother, Knight. Knight at the age of 10 passed away from Gehim, right after his parents that had only died 3 years before that. Pearl explains in a short thought when giving a tall, glasses-wearing-man a glass of water, that Knight had always liked stars, and she had carved them on her ceiling in the inn to remember his favourites. She cherishes a notebook of his as well. its now quite obvious how attached Pearl was to him.

Pearl swears she sees someone at the back of the inn, but shrugs it off and continues another long nightshift followed by a restless night of sleep. She can't help but worry about Alex now that he's been reunited with her.

She wakes up the next day to a letter on the counter, in Alex's frantic hand-writing. In the short letter Alex explains his new situation. Alex has apparently been bitten, and Pearl gets extremely worried. She immediately goes over to his place leaving the inn in the hands of Addar. She also notes she may not be back for a while.

Pearl finds out that Alex has been turned into a vampire, by a vampire by the name of "Jane". He explains that Jane was the one holding his friend, Callim, captive for a type of weapon. Pearl yells at him for being too reckless and they get in another large fight.

The argument is abruptly ended by a bang at the door, followed by it falling right off of its hinges. There, Alex and Pearl meet a strange demon by the name of Ethan.

Ethan begs their forgiveness, since he only wanted to knock politely on the door. He then sees the situation and insists you repair the door and leave. Pearl would very much like that, but Alex swears he should stay for some tea or something. Pearl now understands why Alex must've gotten bitten so easily back there.

Ethan talks about being hunted by a bunch of evil werewolf creatures. He claims they wanted to take over his mind so he'd kill himself, so he had to get out of Tempus fast. He explained he had just wanted to knock on the door, thinking Alex's house was an inn. Pearl tells him that the inn is across the street, but he also notes he saw a werewolf thing back there, too, and didn't want to go that way.

Pearl remembers the creature she saw last night and starts connecting the dots. Pearl goes back for the night, Ethan staying with Alex and keeping care of him. Pearl still doesn't really trust Ethan, but she trusts Alex knows what the heck he's doing.

Pearl returns to the inn and gets attacked by the werewolf thing who happens to be Jane. Her pointed ears and long fangs must have been mistaken for that of a wolf, and Pearl easily defends herself with a beer bottle she finds in a dumpster. Jane has an entire evil speech about how she is going to dominate over all of Arctus and disappears up a wall. Pearl wonders how she managed to magically grow claws big enough, hmm.

Pearl explains what happened the next day to Alex and Ethan, and Alex brings up Urions again. Pearl dismisses the topic immediately, and Alex looks kind of offended. Ethan and Pearl start getting a long a lot better, and a paragraph explains how Alex feels. He feels as if he should just leave, he had invited Ethan in to try and get answers, not become close friends.

Suddenly Jane breaks into the window and attacks Ethan, attempting to rip open his throat. Alex fends her off, but has to sit on the sidelines since he's grown weaker. Pearl and Ethan run after now fleeing Jane.

Jane runs to a large abandon building in the snow forests of Arctus called the Chapel. Pearl remembers this building specifically, since its where they put diseased Pearlites AND stored her dead mother and father's corpse, along with her dead brothers.

Pearl has a little moment of PTSD, before waking up and witnessing Jane trying to take Ethan's soul. Pearl faintly remembers the concept of soul taking but can't remember where from.

Pearl saves Ethan's life and Jane is stuck in a state of suffering. Both of her legs are practically bashed to bits and she is dragged to the prison-of-100-doors to rot.

Pearl heads back to Alex's house with Ethan, but they can't seem to find both Atar or Alex. Pearl panics and scurries around before going back to Jane for answers. Jane explains that she saw nothing before going back to sleep. Pearl heads back to Alex's home to meet with Ethan again.

Ethan finds a note explaining why Alex left. Alex talks about how he thinks this new Jane character is targeting him, and how they're much better without him. Pearl has a melt down and is confused as to how Alex felt this way. Ethan ensures that its fine but Pearl yells at him, blaming him for Alex's disappearance.

Ethan leaves for a while and rushes back with this little runt named Jack, who is apparently Jane's brother. He turns out to be a Urion and tries possessing Pearl and making her kill Ethan for his power. Pearl resists and crushes Jacks little skull. She regrets doing this later, since it sort of scared Ethan (who is a literal demon).

Pearl goes back to prison to confront Jane about being a Urion like her brother but uhoh, she's gone! Pearl runs back home to find that Ethan is also gone. She then goes to the beach (for plot). She finds Ethan literally being drown by this massive lizard thing. Pearl stabs Jane's mutated-power-Urion form in the back and Jane spins around to knock Pearl out. The last thing Pearl witnesses is Ethan coughing and collapsing too.

Pearl wakes up in a hospital bed and struggles to see for a little bit. Some random person explains they had found her on the beach with some other dead guy named Ethan. Pearl has a meltdown right then and there, but they cam her down with good news.

They say they found others of her specie, Pearlite, and Pearl feels a little better (She is still in shock, not feeling the heavy blow of Ethan's death immediately). She asks how and it turns out the Urions were harnessing power from the remaining few. She also finds out that one of them are her revived brother, woohoo! She questions the woman as to how he's back, but she can't provide a straight answer. She asks where Jane is too, and it turns out she had bled out on the beach from the stab wound. Pearl attends Ethan's funeral (she's the only one there) and meets with Knight. Knight introduces Pearl to a Lirok named Fern, and Pearl gets strong shipping urges and smooshes them together.

It turns out Knight and Fern had actually been dating for a few months now and Pearl is super happy for them. A search team that was sent out to find Alex comes back with nothing and Pearl is sad.

Book ends, there you go.
