Hope stares out the front window

Dr Saltzman drives the car

"You're supposed to be asleep." Hope says

"I can't turn my nose off." Sadie says

Sadie unbuckles her seat belt and lowers the window, kneeling up to look out it

"Up ahead." Sadie says. "It's strong."

She sits on the ledge, grabbing the car handle on the ceiling, half of her body now out of the car, scanning the woods

"She's right." Hope says, looking at her spelled map. "Stop now."

Dr Saltzman stops the car and Sadie jumps out through the window

They walk through the woods

"I don't know why he's still out here." Hope says. "He has a whole day's lead on us. He could be anywhere."

"Maybe 'cause he doesn't have a reason to run." Raf says

"Logic that would be perfectly believable if he hadn't, you know, ran." Hope says

"Woah woah woah." Sadie says, stopping dead in her tracks. "I hear something."

SADIE: I'm a tracker, which means I have a very good nose, good ears, good eyes, and anything that comes with it. Us wolves were trained to be certain things: some are trackers, some are fighters, some are helpers. But no matter what we were trained to do, we all have each skill, just one skill happens to be better than the others. Being a tracker can have its pros and cons. Because I have anger issues, I tend to have sensory overload when it gets really bad. But that doesn't happen now. Now...

A twig snaps and Sadie whips her head around

"Someone's here." Dr Saltzman whispers, looking around

They run to the sound

It's a woman, covered in ash

"I-It's okay." Dr Saltzman says as she scrambles up to her feet. "I-I'm not gonna hurt you. Were you on the bus? Can you tell us what happened?"

"Is she a survivor?" Hope asks

"Uh, smells like it." Raf says. "She reeks of smoke."

Sadie nods in confirmation

The woman stays silent, looking around

"I think she's in shock." Dr Saltzman says. "Look, I need to get her to the police so she can get some medical attention. Uh, why don't you three go ahead? Don't engage. We don't know how dangerous Landon is."

"He's not dangerous--" Raf tries

"I said don't engage." Dr Saltzman repeats

"Come on." Hope tells the other two
