if you are protesting pls be careful!

this is a scary time in america right now and i want to make sure all of yall stay safe

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS:

* law enforcement must facilitate and not restrict a peaceful public assembly

* you gave a right to medical assistance without delay

* you have a right to be told of the reason for your arrest and have access to a lawyer

* in the policing of non-violent protests, police must avoid the use of force

* if your rights have been violated you have a right to file a complaint and to be provided information on how to do so

WHEN PROTESTING:

* have a backpack with water and snacks or other essentials like first aid

* police officers are using jammers so you cant livestream

* turn off your data so they cant track you

* cover up tattoos or anything distinguishable about you (so they cant track you)

* police have been calling ICE so be careful if you are undocumented 

* police has also been pushing the crowd towards a certain route so they can put you in busses to arrest you

* wear eye protection like shatter-resistant swimming goggles and masks like N95 just in case you get tear-gassed (make sure your eye, mouth, and nose are covered)

* do NOT wear oil-based sunscreen, vaseline, mineral oil, or moisturizer on skin since they can trap chemicals

*wear shoes that are high tops or combat boots to provide ankle support

* wear long sleeves and jeans to give less exposure to tear gas

* don't wear anything that can be easily be grabbed like jewelry or loose hair

* if you don't have a phone, bring paper and pen to document everything 

* do NOT go alone

i know this isn't everything but i just wanted to get this out there just in case! i found all of this information on twitter! this is the time to read and watch the news since reporters are getting arresting on live television. twitter has videos and pictures of everything that is going on.
