Testing the Water

" I  am afraid to hurt her Bee. She seems so fragile and so little."  Forth

" Forth, its okay. She's not that fragile anymore, she's turning one in a few months." Beam

" Okay." Is the only reply Forth can say before Beam helping him carry the baby with ease.

" Can you helped Sister June take care of Fah? I need to prepare our dinner. " Beam

" Do you trust me with her?" Forth

" Hmnn you look stable. Maybe even better than the first time I hold unto Fah. You can survive a few minutes with her, besides  you have Sister June who will help you with everything.  If your  shoulder started to get cramps, you can lay her on the bed, its bigger than her crib. She loves to play after dinner." Beam's reassuring reply to Forth.

"Okay, just take your time, I am  still not hungry anyways." Forth

Beam just smile and exited his  room .

It took nearly an hour when Beam comes back to his room to see Fah securely under Forth's arm while soundly sleeping. Forth on the other hand is still busy playing with Fah's features. Touching Fah's little toes, fingers and even her face features.

Beam enjoys the view, he is still near the door and he doubt if Forth even hears the door clicked.  Beam wonders if both Forth and him has same sentiments. This is both their dream, when they have not broken up; to create their own family . In Beam's hopeful thinking, he wishes  Forth can love Fah as his own, if really they could make use of this second chance properly. And so Beam is soo happy, seeing Forth and Fah like this , Beam in no doubt knows that Forth is starting to warm up too with his baby. That thought is enough to let a single tear escapes Beam's eye. He was just glad, Forth is back facing him and so he cannot him  while Fah's nanny has long been gone, sterilizing Fah's  bottles  etc in their kitchen. He felt slightly embarrass being sentimental at the moment.

Beam wipes his tear and slowly go near Forth who was even surprised when he touch him.

" Stand up, dinner is ready. " Beam

"What about Fah?" Forth

"I'll put  Fah first  in the crib and we are good to go. It would take two more hours before she wakes up again, so no worries she  will be fine. Besides Sister June will took charge , she is just finishing something in the kitchen." Beam

And so Beam arranges Fah on her crib and lead Forth to the dining area for dinner.

The dinner was light, and mostly the topics are about Fah and baby needs.

After dinner both Beam and Forth settled on the living room to have some red wine for digestion.

" I don't know if we can call this a date. It's more like a baby seminar with hand on experience. Sorry I don't have much time to spare, I'm busy at the hospital lately." Beam

" No worries Bee, I cannot wish for a better date than this. I love it. It's relaxing and somewhat oddly intimate. It's like slowly you're letting me into your life again. I love the thought of it." Forth with all his honesty.

" As long as you won't make me regret it Forth." Beam warns.

" Bee!!! Stop  scaring me." Forth back to his previous teasing voice.

" Just don't wait outside next time. You'll make an unwanted headline if you do that. Just ring a bell and I'll tell Sister June to let you in. I'll even put you on our log shit as relative , so the guards can easily let you in. " Beam

" Thanks Bee." Forth

Forth's hands is itching again, now for  a different reason. He badly want to asked Beam a question.

" Spill Forth, I know you enough to  see that your itching to say something. We promised to be direct and open remember."  Beam reminding Forth of their agreement.

" I know Bee,  I am just making sure your red wine intake is properly digesting your previous food intake. I am afraid you might actually have indigestion problem if you ended up feeling unwell after I say what is bothering me." Forth that is starting to get cold hands. They both had a nice dinner and so Forth don't want to end their first date with Beam feeling off. Yet , he cannot helped it, he is aching to tell Beam something.

" Tell me." Beam

" Take a deep breathe first and a few sets of it will help." Forth who is biting his own lips way too hard because of his uneasiness.

" What I will say is not gonna make you happy." Forth warns Beam.

" Don't drag it Forth. Tell me." Beam

" Bee are you ready to be seen in public with me? Bee...let's go on a public date . Tell me when you are ready. Not necessarily on our next date... well if there's a next time for me or more dates with you. But if its a yes,  I hope you can consider it sooner. "  Forth who is trying himself not to stutter.

Forth is waiting for an outburst.

BUT...

Contrary to Forth's expectation, Beam is calm... but TOO CALM.
