"And my mother is the center of it."

Clary stated and followed Jace, leaving behind a bewildered Simon.

"You coming?."

Jace asked.

"Yeah."

With that, Simon joined the two walking into the institute, looking around with amazement at the sight of high tech stuff.

"What is this place? There's a lot of gear here. Did they rob a tech shop or something?."

Simon rambled. Jace walked towards the screen and swiped at a security camera, watching as a police officer came infront of the church door.

"So, this cold-blooded killer is going to help us?."

"He's not a killer, Simon. He's protecting us."

"Especially you. It's sort of our thing."

"A thing? You guys have a thing?."

Simon asked; eyebrows furrowed.

"He means a shadowhunter thing. That's what they do,protecting humans from demons."

Clary added.

"Demons, right? That makes totally perfect sense because there are demons running all around New York."

Simon scoffed.

"That is the first correct thing you've said today, brother."

A voice that sounded so familiar to Simon spoke from behind; Simon's eyes widen and turned around, seeing his brother alive and well.

Simon made a choked sound and barrelled towards his brother, clinging him in a tight hug like a koala on a tree. Hearing his Simon sniffle, he rubbed his back and nuzzled his neck.

"Dang, didn't knew that you missed me this much."

Jasper joked.

"Shut up, Jazz. I thought you died or something."

Simon muttered and broke the hug, standing on his two legs; teary faced. Jasper softly smiled and wiped his eyes then leaned his forehead with Simon's, making the younger grin.

"Well, I'm fine. Don't worry, squirt. I can defend myself quite well. It's you that I have to protect."

"So, you're involved in this? When?."

Simon whispered.

"Today, actually."

"Oh."

While the two chat away, Clary looked at those two brothers and smiled at their interaction. The two leaned back and faced the others.

"Am I missing something?."

Simon asked.

"What is going on? Why is there a mundane in the institute?."
