TRIGGER WARNING MENTIONS OF DEATH

ON THE SECOND day of summer, they were already wasting their time, as noah said, looking for a dead body that could be found by anyone. but as finn rushed downstairs, immediately rushing out into the warm summer breeze.

he felt like he needed to do this, for everyone in the friend group, but also so he could keep the friend group together.

walking down the soft, warm sand, he saw his friends sitting awkwardly not talking. dylan stood up and walked towards finn, trying to escape the silence that sat over the group.

the waves crashed in the background, the beach mostly vacant of travelers, no one really cane to that beach, or the island.

"i'm not going." noah said sternly, and jules rolled her eyes. everyone just disregarded the fact noah was being a bitch, and started a conversation.

"where does sofia usually hang out if she's by herself?" jack asked, and jules did a quick "ooh!" and then started to talk.

"the pier or seventeenth avenue," she started, and everyone nodded, hoping she would further explain. "the pier was just her quiet place, usually nice for sunset maybe? and seventeenth was just her go to place for everything, like anytime of day."

"let's look at the pier first," jack suggested, so they all stood up, the late june wind running its fingers through their hair.

"you gonna go?" finn said, looking back at noah, and he got up and walked away. he turned back to look at finn, the wind now stirring up the sands.

"i'm not looking for a fucking dead body. no. not a dead body of someone i love!" he shouted, tears budding at his eyes. it didn't really faze finn any, he knew sofia wasn't dead.

"fine then! you leave your best friends when they really need you!" he yelled back, not being fazed by the statement before and the hurt look on noah's face.

"oh yeah! i'm the bad person because i'm scared to get hurt even fucking more!" he yelled, and finn rolled his eyes.

"i do not remember EVER saying you were bad, but we really need you noah! please?" noah rolled his eyes, a crystal tear dropping on his red cheeks.

"i- i can't!" he ran away, to his house. the truth was, noah really didn't care enough to help. he didn't want to look, because he knew something else. even though finn thought that he was just really upset, he seemed really sketchy, noah never acted that just- weird.

the stuttering thing was not normal, even when noah was really upset he never ever stuttered, one time he even said that he thought stuttering was weird and finn has seen him more upset than that on multiple occasions, noah does not stutter, ever.

he was right though, noah was about to destroy everything. he wasn't evil, he just didn't want to be a part of that group.

but of course, he had to be problematic.

they were all walking to the pier, millie trailing behind finn, admiring his hair. he was just so beautiful, he was gorgeous. millie always has a little thing for finn, even dylan knew it, but she just really didn't care because she knew it wouldn't happen.

millie smiled, and looked at his gorgeous curly hair. she soon noticed how she was drifting, and she was already at the pier.

"okay, y'all go out on the pier and we'll look in the store," jack said, and they nodded. finn, dyl, and millie walked out onto the pier.

"that's one long drop," dylan said, looking down a the clear waters. they nodded in unison, and looked back up. "and the water is so shallow, you would get paralysed or you'd-" she paused, looking down at her feet.

"you'd die," millie finished quietly, and it haunted their presence standing there. they looked at the blue waters, the waves small, only ankle-breakers today.

finn started walking back, grabbing dylan's hand, and millie watched them and sighed softly. she wanted him. but she couldn't have him, of course.

they walked back to the group hoping they found something, but they just shook their heads, and walked out in silence.

they walked over to seventeenth street, and started searching the whole street. it was a dead end, leading into a woods. they searched around the perimeter, and every time millie looked over at finn, it was like they were intentionally taunting her.

sometimes, she would go home, and just scream into her pillow, or when she was at finn's, she'd go outside to the beach and just cry on the sand.

the story though, the story gets so much worse.

as they kept walking towards the woods, the saw something. a small, shiny something. and as they neared it, it seemed almost like a ring.

it was a ring, sofia's ring. sofia's fathers ring.

sofia was on seventeenth street, and where her ring was, it looked like she could have only gone one place.

and that was to the mountains.
