Jayden had just gotten out of his car -rusted and given to him as a hand-me-down from his older brother. “Nothing like coming to see your best friend on their big day!” He sighed as he walked up to the house. The house was the same as usual. A big cream-colored door with a red marker stain. Jayden loved days like this- a cool fall breeze flowing through his curly brown hair and the smell of fall leaves going into his nose. Fall was his favorite season after all.
“Knock knock! It’s about time to go!” he said as he knocked on the door. “Just five more minutes!” his friend screamed back in response. Jayden had thought Carter was the responsible one but he was apparently wrong. Sitting here, waiting to go on a big adventure was fun. It would be exciting to go out into the crimson forest and walk through all of the beautiful golden and red leaves. “Fall is beautiful,” Jayden thought as Carter walked out of the door. “Took you long enough! How’s that new hoodie serving ya?” Jayden asked while scanning Carter’s outfit.
“Oh, it’s going good. Really good,” Carter said while doing a suggestive smirk. Never had they thought they would be going to continue the infamous work that was the talk of the town. Crazy to think that after all these years, they would be trying to find the monster their parents had tried to find. “Our parents really want us to go and “find our destiny” huh?” Jayden said while picking up a maple leaf. “It’s not that bad,” “Just going on a major quest that might kill us. Yeah- super great.” Jayden remarked. They might as well get into Jayden’s car now. There was a long ride ahead of them and they were ready. Right?
