I watched as the city burned to the ground with everyone in it

I watched as the city burned to the ground with everyone in it. The way the volcano had erupted made it impossible for people to escape. However, I do not pity the ones who were trapped. I gave them plenty of warnings. I did as I was instructed...

My name is Jinx... I was created to protect the people of this small village. The only problem is if I am seen while leaving a warning, the person who sees me gets hurt. Minor injuries mostly.

It only happens when I'm in the act of placing a warning. If they see me any other time, no harm comes to them. I am a pure white nine- tail fox. The way I was made I can change into a human to find a lover or I can stay a fox. Only to do the work of my master.

Who is my master? Well he is the god of Destruction. He is known by many as Kim Namjoon. I've only taken my human form twice now. Once when I thought I had found my one true love. That turned out to be a lie. Shortly after we had gone on a few dates, I found him fornicating with the village whore in an alleyway.

I made a friend in my short days as a human though. He was sweet, always giving me small gifts and asking if I had eaten.

If I told him I hadn't, he would drag me to the local BBQ Pit and we would gorge on succulent meats. He knew all the good places to get food. Sometimes I would just say I hadn't eaten so we could go to a new spot.

I can see him now. He's holding hands with his daughter. She favors him, when she smiles her eyes disappear like his. Her voice when she sings could definitely rival his as well.

They escaped the burning city weeks before. He had heeded my warning. Although I think I placed hundreds around him and his little family. His wife was due to have another baby soon. They needed to be safe. I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't see them anymore.

My tails wrapped around my small body, blending me in with white clouds as I rest in my favorite spot above their tiny chateau. Jimin was good with his hands. He made them a nice little place close to the mountains edge, not far from the Mystic Forest.

Namjoon told me I wasn't allowed to warn about the Forest. No one was supposed to know what lurked there. Just that it was a normal Forest. Not where all scary beasts and sweet creatures that were forgotten lived.

I'd say the creatures there lived in perfect harmony. But that wasn't true. Ever wonder why a storm blows through the trees, snapping branches as the sky cries.

That's the beast chasing the smaller creatures, trying to devour them. Have you heard of the Basilisk? Giant snake right? Think of that snake morphed into a dragon mixed with some type of sea monster, and you have what I like to call a 'Pen.'

Not the best name for it... however, if you ever hear someone say they need to borrow a pen. You can only hope that they are referring to the writing utensil, not this thing.

It's eyes glow red, breathes fire, it's spit is like lava. Which by the way caused the Volcano to erupt. One of the rainbow Alpacas ran up to the peak and the Pen spat at it...

Well it missed. Namjoon told me to go ahead and warn people.

So I did.

The humans are often stupid though. I heard one say, "YOLO!" Then proceeded to sunbathe in the middle of the street.

The only thing I could think of when it said that was they were attempting to yodel. If that's the case... they are quite bad.

"DADDY!!! DADDY!" Little Jae squealed, dancing around Jimin on her tiptoes. All the while her little pigtails bobbed. He smiled scooping her up into his arms.

"Mommy says little brother will be here soon!"

She was so happy for the arrival of her new brother. Jae's always so happy and filled with joy. She brings light anywhere she goes. Jimin was certainly blessed by Hoseok.

Hoseok is a god of many things. Some would say he is the god of Sunlight. I think he is the god of happiness and all that is good.

"You are going to be such a great big sister." Jimin beamed proudly at his daughter. Little Jae giggled happily.

A shrill sound followed by a gust of hot air came from somewhere to the right. I jumped from my tree running towards Jae and Jimin. How do I warn them when it's seconds from happening. I can't...

I can't... I have to save them! Darting towards them as fast as I could. The fireball tore through the limbs, setting flame to everything it touched. I almost didn't make it in time.

Right as the fireball was about to strike Jimin and Jae. I leapt in front of them, fanning out my tails as a shield. I heard Namjoon scream my name from somewhere in the distance and then everything went black.

———-

"Jinx..."

My eyes didn't want to open, my face felt like it was burning. Everything around me was surrounded in a white light. I could hear Jimin crying, he was heartbroken. Something happened. I wasn't fast enough.

Jae... was she okay? The Baby? Jae's mother?

"Jinx..."

I tried to open my eyes again. This time I found myself being cradled in Namjoons arms. He looked at me with sad eyes. I was expecting disappointment. But there was no trace of it in his luminous dark eyes.

"I'm sorry..." I went to nuzzle into his chest, and pain shot through me like a lightning rod striking a lone tree in a field. So much pain.

"Don't move too much, little one. You are hurt badly... it's a wonder you are still alive."

Carefully Namjoon stood up, moving along the singed path of the fireball's destruction. His eyes wandered along the scorched limbs and underbrush, letting out a heavy sigh when he stopped outside the little chateau.

I peeked over his muscular forearm, to a scene that would forever be burned into my memory.

"No..."

Namjoon stroked my back to try and calm me.

"We are not to interfere with the Fates... they don't take kindly to it. Instead of one life, they took two."

A sob broke free from my chest.

"Why didn't they just take mine?" I cried. Namjoon looked down at me, his heart breaking from my sadness. He too had done something similar once before. His punishment was so bad. Not only was He punished, but so was the man... The poor guy was turned into a Pen. His memory wiped clean of every possible thing that could remind him of Namjoon. So, basically the man died in heart. Becoming a terrible monster that wreaks havoc on the Mystic Forest. Then Namjoon was forced to bear the weight of the world for two centuries.

Atlas appreciated the break... it aged Namjoon, his once luscious blonde hair had turned silver and he seemed to always be lost in thought. A tear delicately waiting patiently to fall down his chiseled face.

"I...I just... how could he just..." I cried harder against his chest. He just continued to stroke my fur.

"Calm yourself little one. Taehyung will be here soon to give you your punishment."

I looked up at him with sad eyes. I knew there was a punishment... I just didn't know what could possibly be worse than Jimin losing his wife and unborn child.

What could be worse?
