Chapter 6 ~ What's Wrong with Hayes?

I said, "No he's not. He's just sick. He isn't dying." "Yes he is."

I picked her up and said, "Sky. Hayes is going to be fine. Calm down." "Laura. He could die."

"Sky. It isn't his time to die. Remember how in bible school, your teacher taught you that God doesn't let people leave this world until they're ready?" She nodded.

"Well Hayes isn't ready to leave yet and we aren't ready for him to leave." "But Laura."

"No Sky." "What if he does end up dying?"

"Sky. You need to stay positive." She nodded and said, "I'm just worried about him."

"I am too. But he'll pull through. He's strong." She nodded.

Cal said, "Sky. Hayes will be fine. You just have to have faith." "Okay Calum."

I put her down and she went and sat next to Cam. I pulled Cal off to the side and said, "Cal."

"You don't wanna come with me on tour because you're worried about Hayes. I completely understand." "I'm sorry. You know how much I wanna go."

"Baby. I'm not mad at you. You're worried about your little brother. Trust me. I would do the same thing if I was in your place." I wrapped my arms around him and said, "I love you baby."

"I love you too. And hey. Maybe you can come with us when we get back in two months. Because hopefully by then everything will be better." I nodded.

He kissed the top of my head and said, "No matter what happens with us. I will always love you. You see the ring I put on your finger. That's just another token of my love and it's my promise to you that no matter what happens I will always be there for you and I will always love you." "I love you baby."

We went back over and sat on the couch and Sky said, "Laura. Me, Cam, and Ryan just prayed to god for Hayes' health." "That's what he needs, baby girl."

She sat on my lap and said, "I love you Laura." "I love you too baby girl."

Then my phone started ringing. It's Nash. I answered and said, "Nash. Hey. How is he?"

"He has alcohol poisoning." "Okay. So I overreacted."

"But they said he's gonna be okay." "Good."

"Well be home in a few hours." "Alright. I love you."

"Love you too." I hung up and said, "Y'all. Hayes is gonna be okay. They said he has alcohol poisoning."

Sky said, "He's okay?" "Yes sweetie."

"MY PRAYER WORKED!" "Yes it did baby girl."

"When is he gonna be back home?" "In a few hours."

"Does mama know what happened?" "I'm sure Nash told her."

Cal said, "Are you glad that you can be more calm now?" "Yeah."

Ash, Mikey and Luke came in the door and Luke said, "So what did we miss?" "Hayes had to go to the hospital. But he's fine."

Ash said, "What did they say was wrong with him?" "Just alcohol poisoning."

"Good. Nothing too extreme." We all just sat around and talked for a little bit. Soon Hayes and Nash walked through the door.

Sky ran over to Hayes and wrapped her arms around his legs. "Hayes! You're okay!"

He picked her up and said, "Yes Sky. I'm okay." "I'm so glad! Me and Cam and Ryan prayed for you to be okay."

"Well thank you for that." He put her down and she ran upstairs.

I said, "How ya feelin bub?" "A lot better. No more ragers for a little bit."

"That's what you say now." "I mean it Laura."

"Okay. We'll see how long it lasts." "Laura. I can't go through this again."

"You just need to learn how to pace yourself and limit what you're drinking." "I'm 14. I don't know how to limit my drinking."

"I'll teach ya my ways while I'm here." "Okay sissy."

He sat on my lap and said, "I love you." "I love you too."

Cal said, "Well look at the siblings getting along." "I always get along with my baby brudder. It's Nash that I fight with. Cmon Cal. Keep up."

"You right. What was I thinking?" I snuggled into him and said, "I love you."

"I love you too beautiful." He kissed the top of my head and Nash said, "Could y'all stop being cute?"

"No we cannot. Can you stop being a butt?" "No. No, I cannot."

"Well." "You're a butt."

"Ya know. It's not normal for you to talk to yourself." Cal said, "Be nice babe."

Hayes said, "They don't know how to be nice to each other." "We can be nice to each other. We just choose not to most of the time."

Nash said, "I'll be nice when she learns how to." "You hush boy."

"Like I said. I am the nice one." Ash said, "No Laura is."

I said, "Ha! Suck it! I win! I'm the nice sibling!" "Why you lie to yourself?"

"Yes. You should be asking yourself that question." Luke said, "Y'all are fucking wild mah dudes. Chill out."

"Never." Cal said, "Babe."

"Fine. I'll behave." He kissed my cheek and said, "Good girl."

"I'm not a dog." "I know baby."

"You're a butt." "No I'm not."

"Yes you are." Luke said, "Yeah Cal. You are a butt."

"Ha! I win." Cal said, "You're a dork."

"Be nice." "Fine."
