I tapped my fingers on the counter waiting for a customer to walk through the doors, I looked out of the window the sun beaming down on my face causing beads of sweat to form, my green shirt itching my neck. The rows of tobacco behind me were getting messy and I decided to arrange them, I knelt down and lined up the rows of cigarettes neatly, snatching a pack of marlboro's for myself. I shoved the cigarettes in my pocket and got up from my knees, brushing the dust of my grey skinny jeans. I sat at my chair spinning around and groaned as a group of teens swung open the door, they were loud and rowdy chucking cans of beer and red bull at eachother making me tense. I dug into my pocket making sure my knife was by my side, I traced the metal of the switchblade a smile on my face. The teens approached me and I clutched the blade firmly "Hey, um we'll take these" a guy with tattoos and rings decoration his hands said slamming down cans and bags of chips "Ok, that'll be $15.99 please" I said politely after scanning the items, a girl emerged from the group "Here Andy" she said handing a 20 to the boy rummaging in his pockets "Thanks babe" he said before handing me the 20 dollars "Keep the change" he smiled before leading the gang out of the store. Well that wasn't so bad.
Overall my day had been pretty uneventful, I went for a smoke on my lunch break and walked around the parking lot. Shelves were stacked, fridges were cleaned, floors were mopped and before I knew it the clock read 19:30, my shift would be over in half an hour. I sat in my chair humming to myself when the door jingled and opened. I looked up from my knees and my stare met a pair of blue eyes that made shiver.
The clear twinkling blue eyes belonged to a boy, his skin pale and flawless, his hair black and curly, his lips blush pink, he was clad in a black shirt, short blue denim jacket, matching black skinny jeans and a pair of scuffed chequered Vans. He give me a quick smile before walking down the aisles searching for whatever it was he wanted. I leaned back in my chair and placed my legs on the countertop yawing a little, waiting for my shift to be over. I watched the guy move around the store picking up the things he needed with a grin, his demeanor was gentle and something about him enticed me, I would do anything to get him.
He wandered over to the checkout and placed down a box of monster, an apple and a carton of milk, I chuckled to myself as I scan the items "interesting mix of things" I said to him with a polite smile "yeah I suppose" he giggled, I studied him carefully "that'll be $8" I said as he reached into his pocket, he pulled out a $10 bill and handed it to me, I dug out the $2 change and placed it in his hand, he smiled at me "Thank you" he paused for a second, scanning my name tag "Victor" I nodded and he turned on heel, I felt myself smiling as he left. I decided to leave my shift early to follow him, he seemed like a perfect kill so far all I needed was a little more background. Josh came in for his shift and I gave him a wave before running down the street, following the jet haired boy.
I walked down the streets, my converse scuffing as I kicked stones, the guy was walking slowly music blaring from his headphones. He walked for twenty minutes straight without turning around and this was becoming too easy I could grab him from behind and no one would know but that, that just isn't good enough. He turned around as if he had heard my thoughts and I hid in an alleyway out of site before following him again, my hands shoved in my pockets. He was now off the main streets and was walking down the streets of a small suburban neighborhood. He stopped outside a house and waited reaching in his pockets for keys before opening the door and closing it behind him. I took a mental of note of where he lived, that would come in handy. I crouched behind a car and watched him for roughly 15 minutes before he opened the door again, now dressed neatly in a suit. He was either working a late shift, going on a date or doing something important. I waited until he had disappeared down the street and I followed him again, just to see what he was doing. He wandered into a restaurant meeting a friend on the way there, I could tell he was a friend as they seemed to lack a chemistry fit for romance. The jet haired boy sat at a table near the window facing the street, I decided I would go home and change into a neater atire fit for a night out.
I jogged home which luckily was only 10 minutes away from the restaurant where the man was situated. I opened my door, ran upstairs and pushed open my bedroom door, I yanked open my closet and rifled through my clothes, I settled on a white button down, black jeans and a khaki jacket before running back down the stairs, grabbing my knife out of my other Jean pocket on my way out and locking the door behind me. I wandered back to the street where the Italian was situated, the man and his friend sat eating and laughing making something stir within me.
I walked into the coffee shop opposite the restaurant and ordered myself a latte, sitting down at a window seat so I could study the man who I had decided to nickname Mr. Blue eyes. As I watched I admired him he had a gentle smile, beautiful doe eyes and skinny but somewhat muscular arms, his skin was ghostly pale and I wanted nothing more than to run my fingers over it, maybe even a blunt blade. He looked over the street and we locked eyes for a breif few seconds before getting back to our lives, I sipped at my coffee.
