I didn’t know what to say at that. I mean, what are you supposed to say when your teacher goes crazy on you like that? So I decided to keep my mouth and just nod at her along with her to avoid another detention.

Damn, April will get so mad to me. She hates detentions. Of course she does, she is a little nerd. Not that I don’t find it adorable when she gets all dorky or when she uses those big nerdy glasses, or the way she always stu- Get to the point Carter! I shake my head to take those thoughts away and get back to work so I can finish the last two questions before the bell.

It only take me a few minutes to finish them and I still have 5 minutes before the bell, so I decide maybe I could try to say sorry to April, but when I call her name while whispering she just ignores me. I poke her stomach but nothing. I try again poking her ribs and she looks at me, slightly glaring and shooks her head to let me know she doesn’t want to talk. Fuck, she is mad. I hate when she is mad at me.

The bell rings loudly and we are free to go to our next class. The one I don’t have with my April. Great, now I have to wait until lunch so we can talk. I quickly pack my things in my bag and turn around to tell April to wait for me but she wasn’t there. I sigh. She gets so sensitive when it comes to detentions. She really is a goody-two-shoe. Since we were kids I was always the one getting her in trouble and she would get mad at me every time. Sometimes she wouldn’t talk to me for days, all because she hates to do something that could make her parents be mad or disappointed at her. But this wasn’t my entire fault.

I was about to walk out of the class room to my next class when the teacher called my name, “Isabella, I expect you and April in the library as soon as the day ends. You two will be working getting some of the books in place, maybe that way you will learn your place in this classroom and respect me. You are free to go now.”

I gave her a nod and quickly walked out of the classroom. That woman is crazy, we were just passing notes and she is talking about respect. Now I have to spend one hour in the library just after basketball practice. I will be so tired. Somebody kill me now please.

Lunch finally came around and I quickly bought April’s favorite sandwich, along with mine and raced to the table were Abby, Jason and April were there already. I took a sit next to April, who still didn’t say a word to me, but took her sandwich from my hand.

Abby noticed April’s behavior and looked at me before saying, “What did you do this time to make her mad Izzy?” Jason next to Abby chuckled but quickly got back to eat without doing a single noise after I glared at him.

“Well… thanks for the trust Abby, how nice of you.” I gave her a little smile and she laughed.

“We all know April gets like this when you do something wrong, like get her in trouble.”

"Maybe this time I didn’t do anythin-", Abby cut me off.

“You did, you always do if April is acting like this,” she pointed to April to make her point. April was glaring at her food and she would look up at me just to glare at me too.

Before I could say something in my defense, April spoke, “You know I’m right here, right guys?" she looked at me, "And you did something wrong. Now I have a detention after school.”

I gave her a pleading look before speaking, “Oh, c’mon pup, you know it wasn’t entirely my fault, I wasn’t the one who started with the notes.” April next to me sighed and looked at me.

“You are right, I’m sorry Izzy. I guess I’m just mad about the whole thing about Nathan that we barely talked about today.”

I frowned, “What about it pup? I told you that I don’t like any boy or I would tell you. You are my best friend.” Abby coughed loudly from the other side of the table and I quickly glared at her, telling her with my eyes to keep her mouth shut. If April was going to know I was a lesbian then I’m going to tell her myself and it’s going to be soon if she keeps going with all the questions.

April ignored Abby behavior as Jason patted her back. “I know Izzy, but you never talk about any boys and it looks like you don’t do that because you already like one and I want to know who so we can plan something to get you on a date with him, and then with could have double dates together!” The thought of it made me grimace inside. For some reason I would hate to go on a date with her and Zac, the dumb boyfriend.

Speaking of the Devil. Zac reached our table with Blair and Nathan and he took a seat on the other side of April, kissing her cheek in the progress.

I still don’t understand why he has to sit with us. I get that our group is nice and everything but he has his own group of big dumb football players to chat with. Our group is like the best of all so the guys are to nice to tell him or April something about it.

I kissed April’s cheek and whispered to her, “We will talk about it later in detention pup. We have a whole hour so you can torture me with your questions.”

She groaned and laid her head on my shoulder, “I hate detentions Izzy!”

A smile was placed on my lips,“I know pup, but you get to spend one hour with your favorite person in the whole world, me.”

She laughed and playfully pushed me away from her slightly, “Don’t get cocky Izzy or you are going to do all the work in detention.”

I scooted closer to her and started to eat my still-not-touched sandwich. “You would feel bad for making me do the entire job and we will end up doing everything together, like always.” I talked with my mouth full of food and that earned me and slap in the shoulder from Blair.

“Be a lady Izzy. Ladies don’t talk with her mouth full of food,” Blair scolded me.

I swallowed quickly and made a pig noise before laughing, “But I’m not a lady”.

Jason replied to me while laughing, “We all know that Izzy.” It was my turn to laugh when Abby slapped his shoulder and gave him a warning look.

I mocked him, “Yeah Jason, listen to your wife and keep your mouth shut.” Everyone in the table laughed and we keep the conversation going all lunch period.

I’m so glad I have these guys by my side all the time. I don’t know what I would do without every single one of them. Well, maybe not Zachary.

Let me tell you guys a little bit about my friends. Our group has 7 people, including April and I. There’s Zac, who started to hang out with us before summer, 4 months ago, when he started to date April. He is a football player, just like Jason and Nathan, but the difference is that he is dumb and Jason and Nathan aren’t dumb guys, they are very intelligent in fact. April and I met Abby, Jason and Nathan the same day in a football game while we were all in 8th grade.

Abby was alone in the bleachers screaming and cheering like her life depended on it. Apparently she was cheering for her boyfriend and her boyfriend’s best friend, Nathan, who were playing the first game since they got into the football team that year. We kept her company and April cheered with her while I took photos from the whole scene. After that game we met the guys and became great friends.

But with Blair it was different, I was the one meeting her and introducing her to April. It was back in 7th grade when we both got into the basketball team. And things didn’t start well. We got into a fight when she accidentally hit me with her elbow and that made the couch put us together in detention for a month so we could get along. It really worked cause now Blair is one of the best friends I have.

Back to reality, the bell went off and lunch was over, so for me that means photography class, basketball practice next and finally detention. This is going to be a long day. And I still have to talk with April about boys in detention.
