Casey Becker was alone at home on the night that the first murder on the anniversary of Sidney Prescott's mother took place.

The swing hanging from the large tree in Casey's yard swayed softly. She was busy preparing to make popcorn when she received an unexpected phone call.

"Hello."
"Hello."
"Yes?"
"Who is this?"
"Hm, who are you trying to reach?"
"What number is this?"
"What number are you trying to reach?"
"I don't know."
"Well, I think you have the wrong number."
"Do I?"
"It happens, take it easy."

Casey hung up the phone, and just as she walked away the phone started ringing again.

"Hello?"
"I'm sorry. I guess I dialed the wrong number."
"So why'd you dial it again?"
"To apologise."
"You're forgiven. Bye now."
"Wait, wait. Don't hang up."
"What?"
"I want to talk to you for a second."
"They've got nine hundred numbers for that. See ya."

Casey hung up the phone again and walked over to the kitchen to make the popcorn since was planning on watching a video. As she put the popcorn on the stove, the phone rang again.
Casey sighed and hurried over to the phone to answer it.

"Hello?"
"Why don't you want to talk to me?"
"Who is this?"
"You tell me your name I'll tell you mine."
"I don't think so."
*shakes popcorn*
"What's that noise?"
"Popcorn."
"You're making popcorn?"
"Uh huh."
"I only eat popcorn at the movies."
"Well I'm getting ready to watch a video."
"Really? What?"
"Oh just some scary movie."
"You like scary movies?"
"Uh huh."
"What's your favorite scary movie?"
"Uh, I don't know."
"You have to have a favorite. What comes to mind?"
"Um...Halloween. You know the one with the guy in the white mask who walks around and stalks babysitters."
"Yeah."
"What's yours?"
"Guess."
"Um, Nightmare on Elm street."
"Is that the one with the guy who had knives for fingers?"
"Yeah, Freddie Krueger."
"Freddie, that's right. I liked that movie, it was
  scary. "
"Well the first one was, but the rest all sucked."
"So, you got a boyfriend?"
*giggles*
"Why? You wanna ask me out on a date?"
"Maybe. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Mmm...no."
"You never told me your name."
"Why do you wanna know my name?"
"Because I wanna know who I'm looking at."
"What did you say?"
"I wanna know... who I'm talking to."
"That's not what you said."
"What do you think I said?"
*Casey switches on the patio light to see
  if there's somebody outside*
"What? Hello?"
"Look, I gotta go."
"Wait. I thought we were gonna go out."
"Uh, no. I don't think so."
"Don't hang up on me!"

Casey hung up the phone and as she walked over to the popcorn the phone rang again. "Shit!" She picked it up.

*Casey sighs and answers the phone with a shaky voice*
"Yes?"
"I told you not to hang up on me."
"What do you want?!"
"To talk."
"Well, dial someone else. Okay."

She hung up again and walked over to the kitchen, wiping what seemed like a tear from her face. As she enters the kitchen, almost immediately the phone starts ringing.

"Listen, asshole!"
"No, you listen you little bitch! You hang up on me again, I'll gut you like a fish! You understand?"
*voice on the other end laughs*
"Yeah."
*Casey sounds scared as she replies*
"Is this some kind of joke?"
"More of a game, really. Can you handle that*
*voice laughs mockingly* "Bloody?"

Casey runs to lock all of the doors inside her house, she locks the front door last and tries to figure out if there's somebody there.

"Can you see me?"
*Casey breathes heavily*
"Listen, I am two seconds away from calling the police."
"They'd never make it in time. We're out in the middle of nowhere."
*Casey starts crying*
"What do you want?"
"To see what your insides look like."

Casey started crying more historically and hung up the phone. Suddenly, the doorbell rings and Casey screams, frightened. "Who's there?!" She walked down the hall slowly. "I'm calling the police." Just as she picked up the phone it rang again and she cries out in fear of what the voice would say next.

*Casey picks up the phone*
"You should never say 'who's there'. Don't you watch scary movies? That's a death wish. You might as well come out here to investigate a strange noise or something."
*Casey cries worse than she did before*
"Look, you've had your fun now. So I think you better just leave. Or else."
"Or else what?"
"Or else my boyfriend will be here any second and he'll be pissed when he finds out."
"I thought you didn't have a boyfriend."
"I lied! I do have a boyfriend and he'll be here any second so your ass better be gone."
"Sure."
"I swear. He's big and he plays football and he'll kick the shit out of you!"
"I'm getting scared. I'm shaking out of my boots."
*crying*
"So you better just leave."
"His name wouldn't be Steve, would it?"
"How do you know his name?"
"Turn on the patio lights. Again"

Casey turned on the patio light. Steve had been tied to a chair with tape over his mouth. He saw Casey as soon as the likes went on and let out a muffled scream. She had tears running down her face as she watched her boyfriend in need of help, knowing that she couldn't do anything.
