One time ago from a distant land, there was a young lady walking down the street. She was surprised to see a traveller wounded and unconscious lying on the ground. At that time, there was a war happening near the village where the young lady was living. She brought the guy to her home and nurse him. After two days of nursing him, the traveller became conscious and was bewildered about his unfamiliar surroundings. He saw the young lady sitting near his bedside and asked her,
"Who are you? Why am I here?"
"I'm Yumiko. I went to the market and I saw you lying on the ground wounded and unconscious. I couldn't leave you there to die; so I brought you here."
"Thank you for helping a stranger like me. You really live up to your name, 'helpful beautiful child'."
Yumiko let the stranger live with her house until the man is healthy enough.
One night when Yumiko brought the stranger food to his room, the stranger couldn't help but asked about Yumiko's past.
"Yumiko, why are you living alone here? Where are your parents?"
"Well, my parents died a year ago when the war started. But it's alright I've learned to take care of myself and live alone. I don't have many friends here in the neighborhood. Most of them evacuated to distant places away from the war. But for me, I won't leave this place. This is where I grew up and where my memories of my parents are."
"Sorry to hear that..."
"No it's alright, anyone will really questioned why a young lady is living alone at a time of war. By the way, since you asked me about my past, may I know your real name and where your from."
"Well I.......I'm Hoiru. I am a traveller. I came from a distant land."
"May I know why your travelling at this time of war?"
"That is something I can't say to you."
"Oh, okay I understand."
Days passed and they grew attached together. Yumiko would always be happy to be around Hoiru. And Hoiru is also happy to be around Yumiko.
One faithful night, they joined together in love.
But at a time they are so in love with each other, Hoiru left without Yumiko knowing.
Hoiru left a letter saying:
"Dear Yumiko,
I know you will be sad without me. Me leaving doesn't mean I don't love you anymore. The truth is .........
I am the commander of the army against your country. In short, I am your enemy. I need to leave you so that I could go back to my duty. I'm sorry for hiding this to you. But the moments we have shared together are true.
Once this war is over, I promise I will go back to you. I will also do my best not to harm the village where you live.
I left a pin wheel as a remembrance of me. Please take care of it as you take care of me inside your heart.

Hoiru"
Yumiko cried from the very last words she had read. It's true Hoiru left without a word but a letter and a pinwheel.
At day, Yumiko would just stare at the sky looking at war aircrafts flying across the horizon. She knows Hoiru is somewhere nearby having a battle. Even if he was the enemy of her country, she wished her good health while holding on to the pinwheel that was left to her by Hoiru.
Another year passed and the war has ended. Hoiru's army was defeated. Yumiko's country won.
Yumiko thought if the war has ended Hoiru would return to her side. But she was wrong.
Many years had passed and Hoiru didn't return.
Every memory of Hoiru turned into a blissful dream.
Yumiko still loves Hoiru after so many years had passed and she still holds on to the pinwheel which Hoiru gave her.
She died a lonely death for not seeing her lover.
After a hundred years, Yumiko's pinwheel had breathed fourth life.
It became the messenger of love for two distant hearts who can't be together.
