Hello and welcome!
So this is my Obiwan fic, I know this first chapter is a lil short and a lil boring but please stick around. I just had to set the scene and all that ya know. This all takes place about a year before the events of the clone wars.

It was another beautiful day on Raxus, the girl noted as she drew back her curtains. The birds chirped, the sun shone against the sea to the east, and a steady stream of supply shuttles could be seen like a line of ants up crawling from the nearby city up into the sky. She sighed and moved to get ready for the day.

She thought about what the day would hold as she brushed her hair, twisting it up into some exotic creation, and put on some makeup. A normal day on Raxus would mean advising her planets senator, Mina Bonteri, as she attempts to navigate the galactic republic. However, today was not a normal day. Today they were journeying to Coruscant itself.

She folded back the duvet on her bed before pulling on her uniform of a white pencil skirt, a white suit jacket and white heels. She hated how it didn't have any pockets. If she could burn that uniform, she would. She grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl she had nearby and a small bag of things she would need for her trip today. Giving her small room one last quick sweep with her eyes to make sure everything looked presentable, she closed her room door behind her.

"Ah Melanie, just the person I was looking for," the voice of her mentor, Mina Bonteri, called out from down the hall. Her hair was starting to go slightly grey, displaying her age, but Melanie knew better than to let looks deceive her. Mina's mind was as swift and careful as a Jedi's blade.

"uhuh, how can I help you this morning?" The girl, Melanie, feigning a professional accent. Mina smiled largely while rolling her eyes as Melanie flaunced closer with an air or dramtics.

"You seem to be in a good mood. You're not normally a morning person." She noted.

"I guess I just woke up this way?"

"Anywho, As we will be travelling to the senate today, I wanted to go over a few things that might be covered. I want to be prepared for everything. Especially due to the unstableness of the Senate at the moment. So I was thinking..." and Mina began unloading her thoughts. Melanie listened, nodding along and making noises of affirmation, as they walked towards the shuttle outside. Almost instantly did Melanies cheerful and playful manner disintergrate. She loved to make others smile, however, when she had a job to do she was nothing but serious.

Mina talked of the trade struggles, poverty, disharmony and more. To each of these Melanie gave her advice whether it be agreeing, disagreeing, or pointing out an alternative idea. One of the main issues that Mina wanted to discuss was the governments inability to come to decisions. Lately there had been a lot of political unrest, and today they were hopefully going to find out more about it.

The shuttle arrived at the main Hanger in Raxulon, the capital city of Raxus. Without skipping a beat the two women continued their discussion as they boarded the spaceship. After a few hours in hyperspace their ship drew closer to Coruscant and Mina stood to get ready. Melanie stayed behind to write a report on some of the domestic issues happening in Raxus, crinkling her forehead in concentration.

Before Mina left the room, she turned around and smiled with fondness at the 29 year old women. Melanie was sent to Mina at a young age. Mina raised her as her own until she was of an age to be educated. She was sent to a general school and after being highly interested in politics, decided to go onto studying to be an advisor. Finally graduating 6 years ago, Melanie returned to Raxus determined to work for Mina. She was a bright women and Mina trusted her with her life. Despite the point that Melanie did not agree with a handful of Minas more elaborate ideals, she continued to dedicate her life to Raxus and to Mina.

After completing the report, Melanie realised how famished she was. One apple for breakfast was NOT a 10/10 balanced  and hearty meal. How many times did she have to tell herself that... She made her way towards the small snack bar they had on board and picked out a bunch of things. It was a very haphazard meal but either way she devoured it quickly.

After touching up her makeup quickly, she met Mina by the door of the ship as they came into land. Melanie kept fiddling with her sleeves as an unusual feeling settled in her stomach. Mina noticed this and laughed.

"Calm down Mel, you're making me nervous. Tell me what's wrong?"

"I'm not sure... I just have a bad feeling about this trip. I'm sure it's fine though, you've always said I'm an over-thinker." She laughed nervously

"You sure are, my girl." Mina placed a hand on Melanie's shoulder and gave a cheeky smile. "Everything is going to be fine."

As the ship touched down and the door lowered, they were meet with Chancellor Palpatine.

"Good afternoon Senator Bonteri and Advisor Altine, it's wonderful to see you again." He welcomed them. Melanie Bowed her head in acknowledgment while Mina walked alongside Palpatine.

"I had no idea you were coming to welcome us yourself. I am very pleased to see you too. It's been too many years since I last saw you." Mina spoke. Palpatine and she went back a long way, back to when Sheev Palpatine was the senator of Naboo. Melanie on the other hand was not pleased, she didn't like Palpatine. She perceived him as a sleazy man.

They loaded into an open-top shuttle and journeyed to the senators residence. While Palpatine and Mina talked, Melanie helped the handmaids unpack Minas clothing. They had to rush a little as they had arrived slightly late and the Senate meeting was due to start very soon. They loaded back into the open top ship and sped towards the senate building, bidding farewell to Palpatine when they landed, and went towards their platform.

Melanie had a feeling this was going to be an interesting meeting...
