"I can't believe we actually got you out of your apartment on a Friday night!" Wynter exclaimed, dancing on the spot. The nightclub was packed. Bodies pressed against bodies, music pounding so loud I could feel it in my veins.
"I can't believe it either." I replied, pushing my way through the crowds on the dance floor. Bree and Willa were dancing together, lost in the music. This was something they did almost every week. Nightclubs and partying till four in the morning wasn't really my thing, but I humored them tonight because I knew it would stop them annoying me about it for a while.
"I'm gonna get a drink." I yelled to Wynter over the booming bass. She nodded, but moved towards the other girls on the dance floor. They might have gotten me to the club, but they would definitely not be getting me onto the dance floor.
The bar was crowded but I pushed my way through to the front. Maybe some alcohol would take the edge off and I might be able to enjoy myself. I was really stressed out with my coursework. Studying law was no joke and it was starting to catch up to me.
"Hey there." I heard someone say behind me. I turned around to see two guys standing there. The one who had spoken to me had a smug smile on his face. He was shorter than the guy standing next to him. The other guy looked like he would rather be anywhere else than right here. Same here pal, I thought.
"Umm, hi."
The taller guy looked at his friend and then to me but he didn't say anything.
"I'm Robbie." The shorter of the two leaned closer to me and winked. "And you are?" He purred.
"Not interested." I answered, turning back to the bar to order my drink.
The taller of the two started to laugh at this. I didn't know who he was but he was cute. Much cuter than this Robbie guy. A small smile crept onto my lips at this. Flirting with strangers in a nightclub was not my idea of a good time. Robbie started to say something else to me but the music drowned him out. Once I had gotten my drink I turned back around. The taller one was talking to another guy who had come over, he wasn't paying any attention to me or his flirtatious friend.
"You go to college here?" Robbie said, clearly trying to start up a conversation with me, not caring about his failed attempt before.
"Yeah." I said, looking around for my friends. Where are they when I need them, I thought. "I gotta go." I smiled sweetly at Robbie and glanced at his friend who wasn't looking in our direction. He was cute, why couldn't it be him flirting with me, I thought. I walked away, leaving Robbie standing at the bar alone looking disheartened.
The silence was deafening when I got outside. The heavy doors slammed shut behind me, stopping the music from inside. The air was cool and the moon was bright in the sky. Glad my night was over and I could finally go home, I knew the girls wouldn't even notice I was gone. They were too busy dancing on tables and getting drunk. I noticed someone standing at the bottom of the steps that led away from the bar. It was the cute guy from earlier. The one who laughed at his friend for hitting on me. A smile crept onto my face.
"Hey wingman." I called out to him. He turned around and waved at me.
"Hey, not interested." He laughed in response. I walked over to him. He was standing on the last step, I stood on the step above that making us the same height. Now that I was close to him I could see his dark chocolate brown eyes and that cheeky smile up close. God he is really hot, I thought.
"I'm Addison."
"Zed." He smiled.
"What are you doing out here?" I asked "I'm sure there are plenty of girls in there who wanna dance with you."
"Yeah." he softly laughed, "That's not really my thing."
"Oh, so you don't like being the wingman to your creepy friend?" I teased.
"Robbie is harmless. Confident, but harmless."
"Well, you're not a very good wingman."
"True." he agreed. "What are you doing out here?"
"It's not really my thing either. I come to these parties every now and then so my friends stop annoying me about it, and now is the part of the night where I sneak off to go home."
"Sounds like a great plan."
The doors to the club opened, filling the silence outside with thumping music. A group of girls stumbled out, laughing and screaming.
"Hey Zeddy!" One of the girls called over. Zed slightly lifted his hand and waved at the group. "You wanna walk me home?"
"Not tonight Hayley." Zed smiled, charmingly at the girls and they all giggled. They soon lost interest in trying to get Zed's attention and walked off, screaming at one another and taking selfies.
"Now can you see why I don't like these parties?"
"Oh, come on! What college guy doesn't want groups of drunk girls falling all over him, Zeddy?" I teased. I could see why the girls wanted his attention, that cheeky smile of his was already starting to make my knees weak and I had only met him.
"Please don't call me that." He smiled.
I slightly pushed him and walked down the rest of the steps. "Guess you don't wanna walk me home then?" I asked, walking away.
He caught up to me and said "I thought you weren't interested."
"That was to your strange friend. Maybe I want to know why those girls think you're 'so hot'" I flirted.
"I'm only walking you home because I can't morally let a pretty girl like you walk home alone at one thirty in the morning."He teased back.
"Oh you're such a hero." I laughed.
It was so easy to talk to Zed. I didn't feel stupid trying to flirt with him, infact it didn't even feel like flirting, it just felt like talking. I didn't want the night to end when we reached my apartment block. Would it be bad to invite him up? I thought. Yes! I answered my own question. You've just met him and you don't do that.
"Thanks for walking me home." I said as we got to the door or my apartment building. "Hayley will be very jealous."
He laughed softly, "I think she'll get over it."
I started to push in the access code into the building when I thought, fuck it! "Do you...." I turned around to him but before I could finish my sentence he had crashed his lips into mine. I was startled for a second but quickly realising what was going on I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me. His strong arms wrapped around my waist and I melted into him. After a few amazing seconds he pulled away from me. "Sorry." he whispered. "I couldn't resist." his lips were still so close to mine, his arms were still around me.
"Do you want to come upstairs?" I asked, not pulling away from him.
