"I have to go," Brody whispered before his ethereal blue avian wing bellowed against the black that surrounded them all, taking him to heights among the stars and leaving Kayla, Nic, Kaye, Smartz, and Jodye staring up at the soaring Brody out of confusion.

"Where does he think he’s going," Kayla asked, her eyes following the light blue trail emitted from Brody’s trail.

But Jodye, his black overshirt and black chinos blending into the shadows that made mirrors of his complexion, looked down below with wide eyes, and in a detached tone, answered Kayla’s question. “We don’t have time for that, right now Kayla.” Jodye pointed downward and Kayla, with a raised, twisted eyebrow, looked at Jodye first, but when her eyes fell in the direction in which Jodye pointed toward, the golden specks flickered in her green eyes just Jodye whispered, “Look….”

"Oh my God," Kayla whimpered with her fingers covering her pouted, pink lips.

"Let me see," Kaye screamed sprinting toward the ledge and nearly falling over Kayla’s shoulder to see the chaos below.

All three pairs of eyes glared down below as they watched one great beast stand as though a man, a Herculean being with its massive chest and lean arms and bent hind legs covered in a golden fur, a platinum white scaled tail whipping through the air with a snake’s skull attached to the end, scales that ran up the monstrous being’s calved, and the muscular abdomen of a man gone horribly wrong. Its roar reverberated and echoed through the city of Franklin. Another massive lupine being with a sleek coat of blue fur and Baphomet horns curling from just above the prominent brows howled in response to its brother. A blinding blur of pale moonlight seared through the streets, raking through concrete and leaving slate slabs upturned from its wake.

Nic was the first to act, leaping over the shoulders of the standing Kayla and Kaye, roaring just as his muscular frame was engulfed in blue and yellow flames, “No time like the present,” descending down below to meet one of the brothers in combat.

Kayla watched as that same flame descended into embers, another whisper catching her attention. “I’ll go after the blur.” Kayla turned around with surprise laced in her vanilla features as she peered on the stoic nature of her sister in crouching position ready to leap into the night, her second home.

"I’m coming too." It was Kaye’s time to be surprised then as she looked back at Smartz, Smartz shrugging her shoulders before admitting, "I may be the only one fast enough to actually catch it…."

Kaye scoffed, shrugging her shoulders hard with defiance as she issued her challenge. “We’ll see about that,” and before another word could be spoken, Kaye allowed the shadows to overtake her, disappearing into the darkness.

Smartz’ smirk was the accepting of said challenge as she too ascended into the night, zipping toward the one they only knew as the blur. A turret of epic proportions constructed itself before Jodye’s black sneakers. Jodye’s fingers wrapped around the black rubber grips of what looked like a racing steering wheel, swinging the cannon sized barrel toward the prancing blue lupine horned creature before saying, “I’ll dump on whatever the hell that blue thing is. You think you can handle the monsters below?”

Kayla looked back down on the pandemonium to see that Nic had already chosen his opponent. With a smile and these words, If he can do it, so can I. Wrong time to let him down, Kayla leaped off of the ledge and descended toward her destiny, the destiny where she fought alongside him.
