Parents Leaving

I left the college as soon as the bell rung. Thanksgiving break was coming up on a Saturday and everyone had plans except me. Christian walked up towards me while I unlocked my car. Which he is the manager of Tacobell, the job I worked at.

"Oh Jake! WILLIAMS!" He yelled. "Listen I need you at work back at 4:30 I have half of everybody gone on Saturday."

"No, no, no. I can't, I have siblings I need to take care of." I responded.

"Listen, you don't actually care about your shithead brother and sister?" he asked. I turned back and glanced at them.

"Chris, I need to watch over them for Thursday and Friday. I can't come in. Anyways, my sister is Thirteen while my brother is twelve. I haven't seen them in a year because of work and college and I'm only seventeen." I responded.

"What ever you say, Williams."

"Listen, I'll make it up to you when the vacation is over." I replied. I got inside the car and started it up. I began to text mother about where I was.

I turned on the radio and heard the voice come from it.

"No one would have belived in the early years of the 21st century." A short pause silenced the air while I drove. "That our world was being watched by intelligences greater than our own." I made left on the street and kept on. "That as men busied with themselves about their various concerns, they observed and studied. the way a man with a microscope might scrutinize the creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency, men went to and fro about the globe, confident of our empire over this world. Yet across the gulf of space, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic regarded our planet with envious eyes and slowly, and surely, drew their plans against us." The voice stopped.

I made a sharp turn and saw my mother, brother, father, and sister. I parked the car near the driveway and got out of the car. Father and mother stared.

"What?" I asked.
