The Beginning

Emerson's POV
As the sun started to set a range of pinks and purples spilled into the sky. I gazed trough the window of my car knowing soon i will have to walk into the nightclub that has become a second home to me. Pulling out my phone to see the bright white numbers flash 8:02pm. I threw my back onto the headrest gathering myself to be able to work another night knowing as soon as I get home I will need to clean up after Jason and his druggie friends. What has my life come to, three years ago I was sitting in my mothers house with my brother talking about everything yet nothing at the same time. I pulled myself together and walked into Lux, I opened the doors to pitch black, no one was in sight. I continued down the dark hallway in till I reached the lights turning everything from totally darkness to an array of reds. Nothing had been touched an everything was quite. Pulling out my phone I headed down the large set of stairs to the red leather couches that were placed all around the club, taking a seat I start to call Axel, the owner of the club. I sat in silence the only sound being the ring of my phone.

"Ayeeee Emerson, what do I have the pleasure of hearing your angelic voice" rang through the phone causing my skin to crawl.

"Hey Axel, I was just wondering where you are?" I asked rubbing my knee with my free hand.

"Wanting to have a quickie before we open, risky I like it"

"Ohh Axel as flattered as I am no i'm just curious because when I got to Lux everything was shut of and no one is here" I rolled my eyes as I spoke

"Thats odd, Julie and Todd should be there. Their shifts started at eight. Well Emerson if you don't mind start setting everything up and I'll be down here shortly"

"Ok, see you in a few Axel"

I hung up the phone with out a thought in my mind. wasn't shocked that Julie and Todd werent here yet, they both hated working opening shifts and usually leave it to someone else to do it, but ive worked here for over a year and never had to walk Into a completely empty club. Most of the time at least Sarah is here getting ready to work security. I walked around the club setting out the fake flowers we put on ever table, after that I walked over to the bar and poured myself Raspberry vodka. I took a sip and sat down waiting for Axel to show up. After waiting about an hour and two raspberry vodka drinks Axel walked his pretty little ass down to me.

"Only took you an hour, Axel we open in an hour and we only have three people here" I told me taking a sip of my drink.

"Emerson chill, Julie and Todd and coming, traffic was bad they said. Sarah is working the door, James is at the DJ booth, you're working bar with Todd tonight, Julie, Lily and Jasper will be service, I will be management tonight, Louis and Jarred with be cash. Everyone is on their way. Everything will be fine tonight" He sang as he took a seat beside me

"You know sometimes I think you would be great at running this place, only problem is you would have to marry me" Axel laughed

"Although the though of marrying you seems so great, you could just give me the job" I said as sarcasm soaked my voice.

Axel laughed and stood up, we made eye contact before he walked around to the other side of the bar " Emmie, how many times do I have you tell you havent been here long enough for that, plus Jasper does such a good job" he spoke slow

"Jasper, Axel he has no idea what his doing. Last week he forgot to set a schedule and everyone thought we had the week off. He a meat head who only works here for free booze an to look hot girls all day" I hissed

"I over this, Emmie you're a great worker but I dont think you're fit for that job, well Im gonna gonna check on everyone and tell them to get to work. 30 minutes till opening, get ready" He walked off

Working here is so awful, all the guys are meat heads who are so full of themselves and the girls are dumb blonde who think this will help them get to be a model. I don't fit in and basically hate everyone here, besides Sarah. Shes a very kind soul. She has worked here for 5 years and has 3 beautiful kids with James. They have been married for 20 years. I rolled my eyes and walked behind the bar and knew for the next 7 hours I would be stuck here with a bunch of drunk horny adults.

The next 3 hours flew by and I was started to notice more and more faces of people who come in here more often. Todd was barley working and flirting with every girl that come by. The club had become loud and sweaty quick , just a few more hours and I could go home and sleep.

The last few hours of my shift flew by. Todd had basically hooked up with every college girl who walked in here although he was dating Julie. I walked towards the last guy at the bar, he was a older man in his fifty's with short black hair and golden brown eyes, he was wearing a white t-shirt with old jeans and a baseball cap. I approach the man and a wide smile and began to talk.

"Hello sir, can I get you anything tonight" I asked with a smile

"A Pepsi would be great dear" He said with a raspy tone to his voice

I walked over to the cooler that had the pop, I pulled out a Pepsi and made my way back over to the man. "Here you go, just so you know we close in about 30 minutes" I told him well pointing at the clock

"Ok dear, I just have a few questions to ask you if you don't mind, it's for a report I'm doing, it's on this nightclub actually and I would like to interview the employees and you happen to be the first" he pulled out a note pad and a pen

"Sure, what would s kind man like you want to know"

"Well to start it off what's your full name and age?"

"My name is Emerson Ann Black and I'm 19 years old"

"Well nice to meet you Emerson, second question why did you start working at Lux?"

Well I was 18 and needed a new job, I had just been fired and Lux was close enough to my place and it pays well for he hours I work"

"Ok ok, any family or friends that live in town"

"Odd question, but no. My mother passed a few years back, my father lives in New York and my brother moved to Nova Scotia.  Live with my boyfriend"

"I see, I'm sorry for your lose. I actually lost my mother and father a few years back, father passed at the age of 61 of natural causes and my mother...well she off herself after my father passed"

"Im so sorry to hear that"

"It's ok dear, what does your boyfriend do for work"

"He doesn't really work"

"Ok, last question do you est meat?"

I froze in spot before anwsering his odd question "uhh yea"

"Ok, thank you very much dear, have a nice rest of your day"

I nodded and the walked out of the club, I started to clean up the bar and kick people of the club, it took about an hours to clean up, but finally I could go home. I walked out of the club and towards my car, I began to hear footsteps behind me, before I could turn around my mouth my covered and I felt a pinch into my hip. I felt everything start to spin, I fought against the person before my muscle started to go week. My eyes felt heavy and I began to close them.

"You'll be ok Emerson, you're safe with me, let your body relax and your mind shut off." I heard a males voice tell me, my eyes rolled back and everything went black.
