Who are you?!?!

This was it. I had no name, no future, no purpose and all I could do was run so I did. I ran faster than I ever had before. Away from the loneliness away from the sadness and away from my father's grave. Eventually, my running took me far off the large well kept lawns of the manor I had lived in and into a forest. It was dark and I had been running for miles but I refused to stop until my eyesight now blurry with tears I had previously refused to let out failed me. My foot was caught on something and I was abruptly sent flying forward and into a bush, I was trying to avoid. Looking back I could see a root that had been displaced by something digging in the ground but I paid in no attention as I looked up into the foliage that blocked the sky. The tears that flooded my eyes slowly dripped down my face as I laid uncomfortably in the thorny bush.

"He's gone." I whimpered pathetically as I cried out my frustration.

For hours I laid there feeling sorry for myself repeating the phrase over and over until I had fallen asleep. When I had awoken it was still dark and I cursed myself for sleeping in such an open area trying to keep my mind off the events that had happened just earlier that day. I slowly began to pick myself up feeling sore from all my non-stop running. My legs felt like jelly and my head was spinning until I could make out a light in front of me. As my eyesight steadied it began to multiply and soon I was surrounded by what seemed to be touched. I no longer took my time or felt the soreness that had built up in my legs. After hearing the foreign voices of men and women a sense of urgency and anxiety stirred in me and all sense of leisure was gone. I quickly crouched down behind the bush using it as cover maneuvering around it and the trees surrounding me once they had moved far enough I sprung up taking off into a sprint.

I ran deeper and deeper into the forest my mind blaring different thoughts of my father. I ducked and weaved through low hanging branches and vines that had dipped down into my path until I was too tired to keep it up. Slowly but surely I began to make mistakes and gained cuts scrapes and bruises on my whole body as a result of my clumsy running. I ran until I stumbled upon a rocky formation and leaned against it to rest. What I didn't know was that when I rested my tired body on it for support that it would collapse behind me creating an opening.

It was a cave! I began to drag myself in replacing the rocks to their previous position covering up the entrance. For the first time in days, I smiled at my luck and settled into my new space almost instantly falling asleep. As I was swept into a deep sleep I couldn't help but dream about my childhood with my father.

"Papa! Papa!" A young girl shouted looking around anxiously. She had left her siblings that were playing in the courtyard to find her mother but after failing far too long for her liking she decided to look for her father. She ran down the large shining halls of the house until she found the one she was looking for.

"There you are, Papa, I was looking for you." She said sweetly whilst entering his office. An innocent pout adorned her face as she shared the events with her father as she clambered into his lap. She dragged on and on about her tale of not finding her mother. Any other day the man would've found this adorable as she was his favorite out of all his children but today was different. There was a different look in his eye something she couldn't quite place but none of it mattered to her so she continued on until she was interrupted.

"Your Mother is gone." He said this with no emotion. He steeled his voice as he looked down at her coldly. For a moment he thought that she might not understand but that thought disappeared not too long after he saw the crestfallen expression on her face. She was a smart girl it was one of the reasons he had liked her so much. Fortunately, it meant that he didn't have to go into the detail of what happened. Which meant less work for him.
