My name?
Well, I don't have one. I didn't have the luxury of growing up with loving parents, a caring brother, nor a delightful neighborhood. I wasn't given anything, not even a name. Every day I feared what would happen when my father got home, what mood my brother was in, and if my mother would ever do anything to save her child. She is the reason I've lived a life of fear, but I don't resent her for her mistakes. Cause if I were in her shoes, I would have done the same thing.
My mother and father were high school sweethearts. They grew up together and eventually got married and had a child. Throughout their youth, my parents had two close friends Aaron and Mary. Mary, unfortunately, passed away at 18 due to a car accident. My mother was devastated. After that my dad had changed, he would rarely come home.
He'd never tell my mother where he was going nor when he'd get home. Every day she would sit on a stool in front of the kitchen window, waiting for her husband to get home. When he did finally come home he reaked of alcohol and cheap perfume. Angered, he would often beat her.
Two months later my mother started going to bars in hopes of drowning her pain and sorrows. That's when she ran into my father's best friend, Aaron. Since then, my mother would leave the house as soon as my big brother went to sleep.
That one-time hook-up turned into a daily tryst, which resulted in a pregnancy. My mother was horrified. She had decided it was in her best interest to keep her pregnancy a secret from her husband.
Unfortunately, a growing baby was hard to keep a secret. She did everything in her power to keep it that way, but like everything, it didn't last. My father started to notice her odd behavior and decided to investigate the matter. That's when he found out the secret his wife was trying so desperately to hide from him. She was pregnant with Aaron's child.
