"No, no, I'm sorry." He wraps his arms back around me. I don't hug him back. "C'mon, just one more time." He pouts.
I roll my eyes and sigh, "Fine." I say sarcastically. I pull him into a hug. After the hug, I fall onto his bed. "Okay, so," He starts. "Your birthday is coming up."
"In like July. It's two months away." I laugh and so does he.
"What are planning on doing?" He asks. I shrug.
"I don't know. Like I said, it's two months away... Plus, it's just my fourteenth birthday."
"C'mon, lets do something!" He begs. I sigh. "Noooo."
Alex pouts and pulls me into a hug. "Please. I wanna do something."
"I just don't know if I'm up for anything." We pull away. My parents are always here for my birthday, so knowing they won't be make me sad. I haven't had a call with both of them on since their divorce.
"What's wrong? You're always excited for stuff like this." He asks.
"It's just..." I start, "My parents are usually here for my birthday. It's like the one day they focus on me. And they won't be here for my birthday this year."
Alex grabs my hand. "I'm sorry... I get it. My dad hasn't been here for one of my birthdays in three years."
"I'm sorry." I put my hand up to his cheek. "It's fine, I can just hang out with you and our friends and the same for your birthday." I assure him.

I get waken up by my alarm. 7 a.m. Who wakes up at 7 a.m. over summer break? I get dressed in the most nicest outfit I could come up with.

I knock on Schneider's door. "I'm going to work with Penelope." I yell from the other side. "Okay!" He says back.
I grab my jacket and head up to the Alvarez's.
I knock on the door and Alex opens it. "Hey." He says and pulls me into a hug. "Hi. I'm kind of excited." I walk in and close the door behind me.
"Why? It's just filing."
"Well, it's gonna give me some experience. Who knows, I might realize I wanna be a nurse or something." I shrug and walk into their kitchen. I see Lydia sipping her coffee.
"Hola, chiquita." She hugs and I hug her back. "Buenos dias." I say.
Penelope walks into the kitchen. "Ready for work today?" She asks me and Alex. Alex sighs very dramatically. "I am." I say.
