It was a war. No one cared about the small cities on the outskirts of Tierra. The country had developed technology far beyond anything anyone could have imagined. There were lightbulbs, there were fans, there were even ovens, but as the war started, they started developing weapons. Bombs that could wipe entire cities off the map. Guns that can hit it's target from half a mile away. Airplanes that could carry one hundred men and their weapons. Those that don't live in the capitol city of Tierra, get the excess technology. We can't defend ourselves against the country we are at war with, Malvada.
They are a strong country, built together, no smaller cities on the outskirts. They live like they're one big family. One big, very defensive family. They have technology to, but they don't use weapons every day like we do. They are more protective than aggressive.
The war started five years ago, and I was 12 when it happened. Malvada wanted to help Tierra make their country a better country by uniting their cities, but Tierra got defensive claiming that they were more sophisticated then the Malvadans. Tierra's ego destroyed our peace.
Tierra had an advantage though. We have a research facility that develops weapons that could be attached through special cells into a human. This was a carefully guarded secret. I know because I'm the friend of our kings daughter. My name's Ash and since no one cares about me or what I do, I send letters to Princess Lydia. She will be queen someday and will have to know about the little guy's problems. Her father says she will become the next queen when the war is over, but no one knows when that will happen. Tierra's prince is only one year younger than Lydia and believes that girls are weak, that they should not have power and that he is the rightful heir.
I knew something that even the king didn't know. This war would be over very soon. Only four people in the two kingdoms knew about the plan. I could tell something was different with Lydia when she started sending letters in a different tone. I could sense the hope in her words. The letter it came in was old. I guess she just wanted to be inconspicuous. The plan would happen tonight at the border between Malvada and Tierra.
I left with thirty minutes to get to my destination. With my black, cotton cloak covering my knee length boots, blue leather pants, and light brown leather jacket, I saddled my horse and started off to the center of our border to the west. The wind blew the cloak off my head, revealing my face. I pull up my cloak and glance around to make certain no one saw me. I saw nothing except the road ahead of me, going to the peaceful future of our two kingdoms, and the road behind me, riding away from the violence of the war.
