He walked past the café.  He thought he might get something quick that he could eat at one of the tables in front of the café.  He got a nice four-cheese hamburger with steak fries To-Go from a decent restaurant, about a block and a half past the café.  He could definitely wait the extra time for a burger that was as good as it was.  He would get that burger as often as he could afford it, which was about once a week.

He sometimes liked getting a triple espresso from the café in the morning before he went to work.  He would usually read the paper while he drank it and woke up.  Other times, he would get it To-Go, and drink it on his walk to work, especially when he'd gotten up a little late.

When Philip got home, Dylan had just under four and a half minutes left of rendering to do.

Philip walked into the bedroom and grabbed his bound journal.  He'd written a new song in it that morning.  It was called, "Ooh, Girl I Need You".  He walked into the computer room and put on headphones to monitor the sound and told Dylan to start recording on the old computer with a click track.  He started playing and sang the lyrics:

Now I've had the time of my life
and I never thought it could be so right.
'Cause you've helped me to realize my life
And now we can both see the light...
Ooh...(girl, I need you)

But you see a piece of me
a side no one ever sees
and it's me...

The man that you see in me.
In case you need me there
When you're all alone
I'll come to you and I'll try
to be...

Everything you ever wanted...

The choice is yours
But, I

Believe in you.
And the way that you walk with me through it all
I think you're the piece

That I've been looking for (to be with you)

When I see a piece of you
It's a side no one ever sees
and it's you

   (Ooh, girl I need you)

The woman that I see in you
In case you need me there
when you're all alone
I'll come to you

And I'll try...
                      to be...

Now I've had the time of my life
and I never thought it could feel so right
but you've helped me to realize my life
and now we can both see the light

Now I've had the time of my life
and I never thought it could be so right...

Even though Dylan was now finished with the rendering of the video, Philip was in a zone and went back and recorded an additional rhythm guitar track.  He used a capo on the second fret and transposed the chords down a step.  Then he recorded a second and third vocal for harmonies.  He recorded the solo track of guitar in one take to finish the song.  That's all he felt he needed.

Satisfied with the recordings, he finished up by adjusting the sound levels of the mix and adding some reverb and chorus to parts of the song.  He added a little dotted eighth-note, ping-pong delay to the percussion loops he'd laid down, giving it a more up-beat dance feel.  He added a few extra texture samples and fixed the volume on a couple of the notes that stuck out on the solo.

By the time he was finished, Dylan had been done for about an hour but, he'd created something he was really proud of.  He mixed the track down, saving it to a high quality audio file.  He always saved a copy of his songs at the highest quality possible, before creating smaller, lower quality files, like for use on the Internet.  There were some nice compression schemes he could use but they could still be lossy and degrade the audio quality.
