I've always loved something about mornings. I don't know whether it's the idea of a fresh start, or the uninterrupted quiet, but I've always been drawn to them. One thing I have learnt in the mornings though, is that all good things eventually come to an end.

"Ariella Loughty get down here this instant!" Screams my mother from the first floor "You're going to be Kate if you don't leave soon."

"I'm coming Mom, give me a minute." I quickly finish putting on my mascara and grab my jacket from my closet before running downstairs with my backpack in hand

"Your brother left early with your dad so you'll have to take the bus." My mom tells me while giving me a chaste kiss on the cheek.

"fine." I hate the bus, I don't know who thought that putting a bunch of hormonal teenagers together in an echoey vehicle would be a good idea, but they were wrong. "Bye Mom, I love you."

"Love you too!" I hear her call out after me as I run down the street towards the already arriving bus. I climb up the three short steps and take a seat near the front, smiling at the driver as I pass. When I sit down, I pull out my phone and put earbuds in, letting my playlist play on shuffle. I unzip my backpack and reach into it and pulling out a tattered copy of Jane Eyre. As much as u hate Mr. Rochester himself, I love Jane, so keep finding myself re-reading the book. I never knew what Jane saw in the manipulative creep, but whatever it was, it must have been amazing.

The bus ride to school is only about twenty minutes long and I quickly find myself distracted from my reading and gazing out if the window. Two new students are arriving today, and I, being the principal's daughter, have to give them the welcome tour. So, in my distraction, I somehow manage to do something productive and practise my speech.

Before long, the bus turns into the school parking lot. I get off the bus as quickly as I can, and rush into the school towards my dad's office.

"Hey Honey," he says with a smile when I walk into the small room "you ready for the tour?"

"As I'll ever be." I respond smiling back at him.

"Good enough." He leads me out of his office and into the main reception area. I immediately notice two teenagers sitting akwardly in the small chairs. The girl has long blond hair held behind her head by a banana clip. She seems small. Her brother on the other hand towers over her, even when sitting. He also has blond hair, only his is shaggy and falls lightly over his eyes. My dad introduces them as Emma and Lucas King, and they just moved here from LA about two weeks ago.

"This is my daughter Ariella, she will be showing you around. Any questions, juts go find her." Says my dad lightly patting me on the shoulder. He smiles one last time and walks away, leaving me standing there with two strangers.

"Hi." I shake their hands "ummm, I'm Ariella, I'll be showing you around, so why don't we just get started?" The girl nods, she seems shy, and we start walking towards the door. After I've turned my back walking towards the hallway, I feel somebody approach me from behind. I turn around and find myself face to face with Lucas.

"You know, this school doesn't seem so bad, especially if all the girls look like you." He whispers in my ear.

Ew.
