~Chapter 2: I'm desperate~

"Oh! That's...that's great, y/n, I'm...happy for you," he said miserably. He gave me a small, sad smile. Then it hit me.

"Crap! I forgot about our meeting after school, Jere! I'm so sorry, can we do it tomorrow?" I said, panicked.

"Oh, don't worry about that...I have to do something after school anyways. I'm...I'm gonna go to the bathroom, okay?" He mumbled.

"A-are you sure?" I asked him gently.

"Y-yeah! I'll be fine..." he quickly said. He then sprinted off, leaving a sympathetic Michael and a baffled y/n.

~Jeremy's POV~

I bolted to the boy's bathroom. Tears poured from my face as I slammed a stall door shut. So many emotions washed over me.

Sadness.

Anger.

Jealousy.

Love.

Regret.

How could someone as sarcastic, cute, funny, nice, and overall perfect as y/n l/n fall for a popular jerk like Rich Gorinski? I felt like someone had just stabbed me in the chest. Me and y/n have been best friends since kindergarten. I knew her before Michael, even. I blushed at the memories we've had. We've had so many good memories...

"Happy 11th birthday, Jeremy!" Y/n cried, giving him a toothy grin.

Jeremy chuckled a bit and took the horribly-wrapped present from y/n's small hands. "You actually remembered!" He exclaimed.

"Of course, silly! Now open it!" Y/n cried.

Jeremy happily tore open the package. He gasped when he saw what it was: an Apocalypse of  the damned t-shirt. He happily hugged y/n, squeezing her tightly. "You know how much I've wanted this t-shirt! Thank you!" He cried.

"Aww, it's nothing, Jere!" She chirped, giving him a goofy grin. Weirdly, Jeremy found himself blushing madly. It was that moment when Jeremy realized he had a crush on his best friend. It was such a weird feeling. This tingly feeling in his stomach made him feel somewhat happy. He thought this small crush would go away in a while, but it had stuck with him since that day. Unfortunately, this crush wasn't small anymore. It was BIG.

I sniffled as I remembered the sad moments too.

"All you care about is popularity, Jeremy!" 12-year-old y/n screamed at Jeremy. Y/n was mad at him because he decided to sit with the popular kids at lunch instead of her. That wasn't the only thing, though, he also told all the popular kids he only hung out with her because he felt bad for her.

"I don't! When will you realize being a loser is the last thing I ever want to be?" He spat back. A circle of students surrounded them, jeering at them to fight.

"I thought we were going to be best friends forever! I thought you cared about me!" She yelled, pushing him lightly.

"Well, we have to move on sometimes don't we, y/n?" He screamed back. Every word he screamed at y/n tore him apart. He loved her with every bone in his body, but he had to screw their relationship up with a stupid comment. For what? Some stupid popularity? He felt all the guilt swell up in his guilt as she stormed away, tears pouring down her face. He quickly ran after her, crying, "Wait, y/n, I'm sorry!"

I shuddered at the memory. We rarely had any fights, and that was the worst we've had. She never deserved any of the mean comments I said to her. I sighed. But we had our meaningful moments over the years.
