Jeremy sighed a said, "I guess that's fair. I'll go get the vacuum."
His eyes remorsefully darted towards mine for a moment before he started his quick-paced journey to the stairs. As soon as he descended up the stairs, Michael raised a dark eyebrow and grinned. "I'm not sure how you got Jeremy to apologize so quickly: he can be so stubborn!"
I snorted and started to wrap up and store away the grey Super Nintendo controllers. "You know how he is with me, Michael. He can be such a pushover!" I then pointed to his knee-high, black socks that had marijuana leaves printed all over them. "Besides, you're usually stoned when you pick on Jere. He probably finds it refreshing to be around someone with a clear mind."
Michael's cheeks flushed, his eyes suddenly finding interest in the brown rug below him. My phoned chirped, alerting me that something (most likely) semi-interesting was going on. I yawned as I checked the lit screen:
Snapchat: Rich_Gorinski added to his story. Go check it out!
A dumb grin absently slipped onto my face. Though Jeremy's main bully, I found a soft spot for the guy. I found his shortness charming. Though he tried to hide it, I caught Rich's voice slip into a lisp. I knew he was hiding insecurities—like all of us—but had a better facade then most of my peers. By most of our peers, I'm mainly talking about Michael and Jeremy.
Are you alright, Y/n? I noticed that you put you turned your ringer on. You never do that!" Michael exclaimed, getting off the couch and walking towards me.
I tried to turn off my screen but Micheal caught a glimpse of my story, that was currently resting on Rich's story.
"Rich Gorinski? You have him on Snap?" Micheal asked, apprehension in his voice.
I meekly nodded my head, fearing his judgment. Though he didn't express it verbally, I could see the glimmer of betrayal in his eyes. It was justified, however: this kid had bullied Jeremy and him for the last few years and now I was friends with him on Snap?
"We don't talk or anything," I quickly spoke up, "Plus, I might as well keep an eye on him."
"You're friends with Rich?"
I glanced over to the staircase where Jeremy was standing with the vacuum, eyes filled with horror. (And, quite possibly, tears)
"N-no! I only have him as a friend on Snapchat, Jere," I exclaimed, gathering my things.
He rolled his eyes and stormed over to me. "Are you sure you're not more than that?" He crossed his arms. "He's a bully, Y/n. Why would you talk to him?"
I swung my backpack over one shoulder and shouted, "I'm not talking to him!"
Jeremy, taken aback from my suddenly angry tone, jumped out of the way as I started bulldozing towards the stairs.
Both of the boys didn't make an attempt to stop me, which was a good decision on their part. I needed some space this weekend.
Why was it such a big deal to Jeremy, anyways?
First chapter rewrite is done! Hope you enjoyed! :) I have left the old writing up below as a comparison.
Hopefully you guys are enjoying the rewrite so far! :D
-OLD CHAPTER-
"I SWEAR JERE I WILL SNAP YOUR PUNY LITTLE NECK!" I screeched, fumbling with the buttons on my controller.
"Y/N, YOU WERE THE ONE WHO GOT US IN THIS MESS!" Jeremy, my best friend, screamed back.
"WOULD YOU TWO STOP SCREAMING?" Michael, my other best friend, screamed.
