Early October, year 2028.
Eric Spyder, is headed home after a long day at work. He's had yet another day full of mocking, rude remarks and general hatred from other people.
As he gets home and walks into his house, Eric sits down on the couch to try and relax after the long day. A single tear rolls down his cheek as he holds the tv remote in his hands. Feeling total worthlessness, Eric gets off the couch and prepares a glass of whiskey for himself.
"Might as well forget today as Ive tried for the past 30 years..." he mutters to himself as the glass is filled. Eric brings the bottle and glass to the kitchen table and takes a long, slow sip. The glass is already empty as it is placed back on the table, ready for a refill.
Suddenly, a knock on the front door is heard. Eric gets up and slowly opens it, "Hello?" He asks out quietly. "Mr. Spyder?" One man asks. "Yes...is there anything I can do for you?" Eric responds, seeing the badges the two men have on their chest. "It has come to us that you May have a chance to help is out in certain trials, Mr. Spyder. If you be so kind as to come with us, we can bring you to our commander. We are aware you served in the army, yes?" They say as if they've practiced the like a million times. "I did, but I'm not interested in serving anymore. I already have bad hearing and a bad leg. I'm sorry." Eric responds quietly as he tried to close the door. The door is quickly shoved back open as one of the men steps inside. "We aren't going to ask again, Mr. Spyder. Now come with us or you will be arrested and brought in anyway." Eric steps back and postures himself. "I'm not coming with you. I know exactly what you're gonna do with me and I know it invokes my wings. How about you get out of my house before you both end up in the bottom of a lake!" Eric pushes the door shut and locks it behind him, quickly walking away and into his room.
Eric begins to bag up a large backpack full of clothes, hygiene equipment and a few extra tools he may need. He opens a drawer to reveal a M1911 pistol with three magazines, and five boxes of hollow point ammunition. Eric quietly sighs as he loads the gun and ammo into his bag, along with the magazines. "You've got me outta trouble once. Do it again, little one." He says under his breath. Eric makes his way to his bedroom window, on the second story, facing to the rear of his house, into the woods nearby. Eric steps into the windowsill and jumps, letting his wings unfold and he quickly flies away from the house, making less noise than an owl as his wings flap, leaving the two men to wonder where he could have gone.
Eric keeps flying, as high and for as long as he can. Before he knows it, the sun is already starting to rise. "Have...have I been up here that long? It doesn't even feel like I was." He finds a secluded spot to land and takes a look around the small town before walking out from behind a small building. Across the street, Eric finds a restaurant as quickly feels a hard gurgling in his stomach. "Ugh..can't believe I didn't eat dinner last night." Eric makes his way to the restaurant and is greeted by a young woman. "Well, Good morning, sir! How are we doing today?" She asks cheerfully. Eric smiles softly, "Not too bad, ms...Torro?" He asks. The lady smiles brightly and nods, "Yes, sir. You can call me Alicia. Now, would you like a booth or a table?"
Eric responds "Booth, please." He is then guided to a booth with a window view of the town. Alicia sets a menu on the table as Eric sits down and begins to read through it. "Can I get you anything to drink?" She asks with a soft, angelic voice. Eric thinks for a moment, "I think some coffee would be perfect." Alicia walks off and returns with a fresh brewed pot of coffee, she sets a cup down and fills it quickly. "There you go" She says bringing the pot upwards. "Do you know what you would like to eat?"
Eric looks up to her, "Just some eggs and bacon, please." She writes the order down on a ticket and goes into the kitchen to give to the cook. Taylor looks out of the window as he drinks the coffee and he lets out a soft sigh. "Why now? Of all times. I can't even have a decent life without people trying to mock me, or extort me." He says to himself.
