For thousands of years the small village of Uscanland enjoyed peace. The village was home to the four legendary Sages, said to have power beyond mortal imagination. The four Sages warded off the towns enemies and protected its borders until one day they vanished. Years later the tyrannical Lord Darius set his eyes on the defenceless town for the next step of his empire's expansion. Lord Darius sent his armies to invade Uscanland led by the dreaded General Zach.
One month before the invasion
The tavern in the village of Uscanland was the most busy place in the entire village. shop workers, farmers, and villagers alike would flock to the tavern after their work day for a drink and talk with friends. The tavern had a stocked bar on the right side with a crackling fireplace alight in the back. Tylea, the barkeeper as well as the owner of the tavern, sat behind the bar, serving drinks and talking with the townspeople. Two girls sat at the booth in the back, while they were only fifteen, they ran the best blacksmith shop in miles. The two men that argued with the girls owned a failing magic shop, they were bartering over armor prices. A curly blond haired dwarf sat at the bar, hitting on the bar owner, with no luck. In the booth at the front of the tavern sat two men, the tall one, a little heavier set, had just lost his job in the assassins guild, he was the bouncer at their main building in Uscanland. The Shorter skinny one with slightly elven features was treating his old friend to a drink and enjoying the dwarfs failed attempt to woo the bar owner. The door to the tavern creaks open, a tall skinny man steps in, he's dressed in a dark green cloak that falls just below his knee. The man removes his hood, revealing a pair of black glasses and short light brown hair. The man sits at the bar before being greeted by the bar owner.
"I haven't seen you in here before, you new in town?" asked Tylea
"Yeah, Some townspeople I talked to told me this was the best spot in town to get work." responded the man.
"Sure is, we got people in here constantly looking for workers. What kind of work do you do, I'll let some people know." said Tylea
"Thanks, My name's Kaleb, I did quest work in my village before it was destroyed by that Darius guy." replied the man.
"No problem, and I'm sorry to hear about your village." said Tylea.
"It was years ago, now I move from town to town doing what work I can." said Kaleb.
Suddenly the door to the tavern burst open a skinny man with a blond bowl cut limped in, he carried a small string instrument. All the bar patrons turn and look to the man.
"Who's he?" asked Kaleb.
"That's Brandyn, he's the town bard." answered Tylea.
"Run, flee, hide, a band of mercenaries are going to invade the village!" yelled the man before hobbling to hide in the corner.
"There's no need to panic!" yelled Tylea as the village folk began to grow frantic in their seats. The two men in the front booth got up calmly and left the tavern followed by the dwarf at the bar.
"Excuse me, I'm gonna go join them." said Kaleb, getting up from his seat at the bar and running after the three men who just left. When Kaleb caught up to the men they stood at the town gate, a band of mercenaries on horseback stormed towards them in the distance.
"Who are you?" asked The shorter one looking over at Kaleb.
"Oh, I'm new in town, the name's Kaleb, I'm a mage from the storm village." said Kaleb, Smiling.
"I'm Corey, the bigger guy's Nick, and the Dwarf over there is Andrew, we're the town militia." said the shorter man.
"Three people is the whole militia?" asked Kaleb, a quizzical look on his face.
