❝ she ❞ ─ y. hitoka × reader

Start from the beginning

she tastes like apple juice and peach.

yachi lets out a small breath of relief and it had been the sweetest melody on y/n's eyes and ears. yachi had always been the type of girl that was nothing to look at, short with an asymmetrical face and a few spots, but to y/n she was beautiful. perhaps some would find her mild manners bland, but to y/n they were like salve on her soul.

oh, you would find her in a polaroid picture

as she runs her fingers through yachi's locks, she couldn't help but stare at her with loving eyes. oh how she wanted to tell her how she felt. it all started ever since she's laid eyes on her. cute, petite, kind hitoka. from the very beginning, she'd already stolen her heart.

though, yachi's heart seemed to be elsewhere as she stares at the boys, playing on the gymnasium floor. their shoes squeak ever so loudly as the volleyball is thrown into the air. yachi's eyes trained not on the ball─ no, but on a particular person. "YEAH!" one of the boys had yelled, causing yachi to come back to her senses.

and she...

"oh! hold on─" yachi suddenly sits up, leaving y/n's lap as she stands up, stumbling a little before catching herself. she smiled sadly at her and points over to the boys, "they're almost done with this set! i better go fetch their water bottles and towels," she explains in which y/n nods. "go ahead," she says, reassuringly, "i get it, don't worry," she says.

yachi's facial expression softens as she smiled more genuinely now, nodding cutely. "okay!" she says and runs along to the benches. y/n's eyes trained on her like a hawk. her own heart following the blonde girl's. she stops at the bench and takes ahold of the water bottles. and just as she said, the boy's set was done and they came jogging towards her.

there had been one particular person y/n noticed she'd pay attention to most.

means everything to me.

y/n sees the twinkle in her eyes for a split moment. hinata might've not caught it but she did─ y/n always looked at the details. the way she'd look and smile at hinata was heart aching. she knew yachi was always gaining new crushes now and then but y/n never knew that she'd lose to him.

that idiotic, nice, sweet boy.

y/n turns away, sparing her own feelings as she gulps to herself. trying to choke down the heavy feeling in her chest. though, she couldn't help but glance at them. "y-you did good, shoyo!" yachi says, stuttering as she blushes red. hinata replies with the same shade of red on his cheeks as he laughs sheepishly, wiping the back of his head using the towel she'd given him. "thanks!" he says.

y/n frowns, not wanting to accept the facts but... they did look quite good together.

i'd never tell. no, i'd never say a word

they talk for awhile moment, exchanging cute but awkward responses to one another in which y/n exhales with annoyance. jealousy boiling deep inside the pits of her stomach as she crosses her arms, attempting to push down the feeling more.

and oh, it aches

she never expected hinata to be so great that even y/n herself would lose to him. what was so special about him anyways? the fact that he was genuinely nice to everyone? or that he treated everyone with the same respect equally? or is it because of his strong sense to succeed in things he wanted to pursue in?
