Peter was one of Stiles' greatest puzzles. He could never figure out the previously psychotic-homicidal werewolf, always on the edge of the Pack and seeming to be just a shadow in the back ground. There are so many questing to ask the 'were but never the opportunity as he knows he'd just get a supernaturally hard punch to the face.
So, with the physical violence in mind, he's had to come up with another method of information gathering. Which basically translates to stealing files from his dad to find out where Peter lives and then braking an entering into where ever he lives. He knows nothing good could come from sneaking into a werewolves den but Stiles apparently has no self preservation.
But, he may not be smart in that sense, but he know at least to be prepared for his little 'mission'. Stiles has actually been studying some of Deaton's Druid books so he spend his Friday after school researching potions and spells to aid in his possible suicide mission.
Currently, he's found a few spells to mask any sounds he should make but none of scent, which is the most important. It's all good and dandy if he manage to get in and then out of the apartment but leaving his scent will obviously alert the wolf to his visit.
After hours of search, he was researching in a plant and herb book as a last resort, as he was close to giving up on the books he finally finds a potion to hide someone's scent- halleluiah!
It took not as much time as he thought it would to gather the ingredients. Most of the ingredients were house-hold spices and herbs. Only a handful he had to get from Deaton.
Now that was one challenge, trying to weasel out of Deaton's questions asking what he would be doing with all these ingredients. However, although he manged to collect most of them, one ingredient for one of the potions had to be ordered-ughhh.
To by pass this little hiccup, he uses his amazon next-day-delivery to pray it would arrive by tomorrow (Saturday). And, thank the Norns, it does. This leads to Stiles spending his Saturday brewing potions - they take a annoyingly long time to brew.
When his father gets home he's met with the sight of his teenaged son sitting in the living room on the floor wearing Hogwarts robes , fake round glasses while brewing a potion in a cauldron while also watching Harry Potter.
All Stiles does is look up at his father when he enters the room, smile and then turn back to his potions.
However, the Sheriff, so used to his sons antics, just hangs his coat up and calls to his son that he'll be in his office, then leaves. (Though he sneakily took a photo for the 'My Son Is Weird But I Love Him' photo album he's collected over the years. Its quite full, not surprisingly).
After a whole day of brewing and four movies (Stiles watched them backward just because he can starting with Deathly Hallows part 2 all the way to Order of The Phoenix) and finally completed the potions.
He made two potions: one for masking his scent; one for soundlessness (encase Peter is or comes home); and one to reverse the effects. In addition, he found a spell to revel hidden things. When he discovered it, he new the spell was a bit vague but it was worth a shot so to insure this mission wouldn't become a failure and waste of time.
Feeling very much like he was in a Potions class, he bottled them in some glass vials he had bought a while back when he started studying the books (Deaton did pacifically tell him not to do any dangerous spells or potions, he himself didn't think any of this was that dangerous but who knows.)
Now all he had to do was wait.
