On a dull, gray Tuesday is where this story begins. In an ordinary town, number 4 Privet Drive is a thoroughly ordinary house on a thoroughly ordinary street, in the suburb of Surrey called Little Whinging. In the house, there lived a woman, a man, and a boy. There were pictures on walls and countertops, of them smiling and doing many other things. The boy had blond hair and was on the chubbier side, as was his father. The mother had thin blond hair, as the boy and the father. It looked as if there wasn’t any other family member or another person who lived in the home.
But there was a boy and a girl, both siblings, but not of the chubby boy with blond hair. No, they were of a different last name, only living in the home with there family members due to the parents being deceased. Their names were Harry Potter and Yang Potter.
On this day, they were asleep in the cupboard under the stairs that they had to call there room. But that sleep was interrupted by there aunt rapidly knocking on the cupboard door. “Wake up you two!” She said as she then walked to what the two siblings assumed was the kitchen as they heard their aunt put a frying pan on the oven and it started to sizzle.
When the two siblings didn’t come out of the cupboard, the aunt got mad and stormed back over to the door and rapped on it again. “Didn’t I say wake up! Get out here and watch this bacon. And don’t let it burn this time, it's Dudley's birthday and I want everything perfect!” She walks off as Harry and Yang walk out of the small cupboard that they have to share. Harry’s wild black hair went in every direction as Yangs’ smooth dark brown hair had many flyaways. They groggily walked to the kitchen and started to cook the bacon. Yang, not doing the cooking at the moment, sets the table as the Dursley walk down the stairs. Dudley runs to the presents that were in the living room and imminently start to count them. The table that the presents were on, seemed as if it disappeared. His face fell into a scowl.
“Thirty-Six!?” Dudley screeched at his parents. “That is two less than last year!” His plump, pink, round face started to turn a scarlet with anger. Right as Harry finished with breakfast too. They both could feel the rage that was rising so they quickly ate their food and then Yang washed the dishes. Vernon and Petunia could feel it too because Petunia piped up to calm down her son.
“Then we will go and buy you 3 more presents. How does that sound Pumpkin?” She asked, trying to make her son feel better. Dudley thought for a while. Apparently, the thinking was hard for him because it took him quite a while.
“Then I will have Thirty... Nine.” He said after a moment. He sat down heavily on the chair nearby. “Alright then.” He said in a more happy tune. Harry and Yang watch as Dudley unwraps his presents, tearing the paper off on many different toys and trinkets as Petunia went to answer the ringing phone and Vernon sat in the armchair, reading the daily newspaper.
When Aunt Petunia was finished with the phone call, Dudley was almost finished unwrapping all of his presents. But Petunia had a small frown on her face when she walked back into the room. “Bad news. The lady who watches Harry and Yang fell down and broke her leg.” the lady who watched the siblings was a nice lady, yes, but she was very odd, making the sibling look through old photos with her. Her house smelled of pickles, oh how Yang hated pickles.
“How about my sister?” Uncle Vernon said, looking up from his newspaper.
“You know she hates the two.” This is what they did many times a day, talk about the two Potters as if they weren’t in the room.
“How about your one friend?”
“Away on Holiday!” She snapped as she picked up all the torn-up paper that was on the floor.
“You can leave us here,” Yang spoke up. She was thinking of the things she and her brother could do when the three were gone. Harry and she could watch whatever they wanted on the telly or they could play on Dudley’s computer.
“As if we are going to leave you both here, you both will ruin the house!” Aunt Petunia said, looking at them. “We could take them with us.” She said.
“And leave them in the car,” Dudley said, laughing.
“As if we are going to leave them in my car.” Uncle Vernon said in a disgusted tone. Finally, the doorbell sounded off. Dudleys’ friend was here along with his mother. “Let's get going if we want to stay for a while. We are going to the zoo.” Uncle Vernon said as they left.
_-_-_-_-_-_
At the zoo, they were in the reptile area. It was indoors and it was in air conditioning which was a blessing for Yang since she got hot too easily and being in older and baggy clothing, the heat outside didn’t help her. They all headed to the biggest snake, but unfortunately, it was asleep. But apparently Dudley didn’t understand that and ‘Order’ the snake to awake, making Uncle Vernon tap furiously on the glass to try and wake it up, but it didn’t work as the snake stayed asleep. As they walked off, disappointed Yang and Harry stayed, looking at the snake. Yang though of how it was like her and her brother, how it was kept here in this small aquarium.
Suddenly, the Snake awoke. It unraveled a bit and got eye level with the two siblings and it Winked at them. Winked. Harry winked back at the snake as Yang got a bit confused. “I bet it sucks being in there all alone,” Harry said and the snake nodded. “What are you anyways.” The snake jabbed its tail over to a sign that was bolted to the wall near the glass wall. It read ‘Boa Constrictors are from Romania-’. Yang and Harry looked back at the snake.
“A Boa Constrictor, I love them, hehe. I bet it was nice there, yeah?” Yang asked. The Snake pointed back at the sign. ‘Bread in captivity’ This made Yang feel sad for the creature, being caged up in the zoo all its life. But before Yang or Harry could say anything else to the friendly snake, Dudley pushed them aside, excited that the snake was finally moving around. Yang and Harry fell to the ground, hitting it with a tump. They both glared at them, right at that moment, the glass just disappeared. Dudley fell into the habitat as the snake slithered out of its cage. Everyone started screaming in fear and such. As it slithered passed Harry and Yang, they both could hear clearly, in a slithery voice.
“Thanks.” And is slithered away.
“Your welcome.” They both said as they both got up.
