Prompt: Forty and Candace review the past
"Beck" Candace scolded her young daughter, who bounced excitedly on her queen bed.
"Sorry, Mommy," Beck said, laying down on the bed and showcasing her innocent pout. Candace sighed, as she caves in to her daughter's signature pout which she developed from her husband, Forty.
Candace lifted Beck into her arms and Beck curled her arms around her mother's neck. Candace savored the moment; as she did with every moment she had post-serial killer drama.
A knock on the door disturbed the peaceful atmosphere. Candace briefly tensed, and relaxed. She tried to forget, lock the memories away and focus on Beck and the rest of her family.
"Mommy, the door," Beck said, pointing at the direction of the door, oblivious to her mother's thoughts. Candace set down Beck, beside her various toys in the playroom and turned the corner away from the playroom and opened the Marble door.
Ellie stood on the porch her black her shining, dressed in a college Lions basketball jersey and her bag under her arm. Candace beamed at the sight of her adoptive daughter and immediately hugged her tightly.
Ellie was left an orphan after the death of her late sister, Delilah. Social services came to take Ellie to a local home and Forty stepped up and offered to adopt her. The rest was history, Candace and Ellie bonded over social media and they became an unlikely family brought together by tragedy. Beck called Ellie her sister despite no blood connections and Ellie did the same.
"Miss me much," Ellie said, breaking away with a faux smug expression. Candace laughed moving back into the house and Ellie followed, shutting the door quietly.
"How is college?" Candace questioned, giving Ellie a once over noticing a basketball jersey for the Lions. Ellie blushed and fix the collar of her new jersey.
"It's the best and the boys- "Ellie said trailing off, earning an eyebrow from Candace.
Candace gestured to the jersey. "A gift" Ellie admitted, her face scarlet.
"His name is Kit, he is a freshman and on the basketball team," Ellie said, showing Candace a picture of them at his first game.
"Cute, nice job"
"I wish Delilah was here to see it through" Ellie's voice cracked, and fresh tears spilled. Before Candace can react.
"El" The three-year-old squealed, unsteadily running and jumped to hug her sister. Ellie's frown faded and she grinned, spinning Beck around.
"I missed you"
"You too"
"Why won't Mommy let me come to her party?" Beck asks.
Ellie crouched down to Beck's level "See sometimes grown-ups have to grown-up things that are boring and no fun."
"Ok," Beck said, smiling back at Ellie and Candace gave her a grateful look.
"Come on let's have the best sleepover ever" Ellie cheers, leading Beck to the Cinema room holding Beck's favorite movie 'Frozen'.
At Forty's premiere, Candace walked the red-carpet arms linked with Forty. After solving the mystery of the murder of Guinevere Beck and getting Joe or Will arrest along with Love, Forty was world-famous and adapted the full story into a movie series.
"Forty, Forty. Any comment" Reporter's camera flashed momentarily blinding Candace and Forty.
"Yes, I believe this adaption is truthful to the true story. I work hard to make this and hope the review is good. I am also thankful to the cast and crew" Candace nudged Forty in the ribs to remind him not to be smug.
