They say the universe started with a bang, a big bang. They say it was how our world was formed, how this place we live off, was created, and could all be true, but that all happened millions of years ago. This world, right now, the would we lived in, we all knew for a fact it did start with a bang, just a very different bang to the one before.
There was a time before this, we knew that. We called it The Old World now, and honestly, we didn't know a lot about the old world, because the war destroyed a lot of the records, thousands of years of history just gone because some people were angry. We knew there was peace, or some sort of peace at least it seemed. Technology was advancing, the world seemed to progressing every day, but in the background war seemed to always be going on, small and big but it was always conflict, and it just seemed one day that conflict finally boiled over the top, and what was written down was described as a War on the World.
Due to how intense this war was, there wasn't a lot written down and recorded for us to learn from, although at the same time, books weren't a necessity anymore. We learnt about it from the stories pasted down through time, through family members, through friends. This war was just a story to us, but we saw what it left behind every day.
The stories told us, it was a big war, and that it involved most of the major countries, and it got messy pretty quickly. Without peace trading through each country meant more arguing and more tension and eventually the state of the war meant that the food started to run and people started to get more desperate and crazier, even leaders did the same. They say it's what led to what ended the war, but also what created some of the worst times of the world.
The event was called The Bombs, and it must've wiped out half the planet, making it unliveable in some places, killing something like sixty percent of the population in the process. It seemed most countries had something in place for this, underground bunkers to live out the days until the ground became safe again, and that's what they did. Parts of the world, whilst most destroyed survived longer than other others, and became more liveable quicker and people moved up there quicker, but they found there wasn't much there anymore. Not only had the people destroyed everything but the world itself seemed to have given up on the people.
There were a number of reasons why the earth had suffered. History was a little rough, but it mentioned a thing that was called global-warming and it started to eat away at the earth, but no one seemed to do anything about it. Over the decades the icecaps melted, and the sea level started to rise, at first, gradually but then rapidly, especially once abnormal natural disasters started to happen, and often.
The earth started to split with every earthquake, and tsunamis would consume entire cities, and they would never recover, most would stay underwater as the sea level rose. The heat would burn some of it down, and the cold would freeze the rest. Animal started dying, but not just dying, dying out. It was something everyone was warned about, something that probably could've been stopped, but humans are greedy. They didn't want to change, they didn't believe it could get so bad, but once a quarter of the earth become unliveable and with the war, there wasn't much left.
There were still people once this was over, still people who needed to live and eat and survive, but that wasn't easy. Water was hard to come by, and food even more as it was hard to grow much on the land, or even find animals. Those who emerged from the bunkers at the find land that was still liveable and where I lived, they did.
They came across the ruins of a city, one that could be rebuilt. There was enough knowledge, enough resources there to rebuild this city and that's what they did. They had things like electricity, cars even, and tried to create some of the world had before. They created a government body, elected by the people, but it was on body, not a group of people elected in. There was a leader, their second in charge and someone in charge of resources, and medical and it seemed it was functional system, and maybe that worked, but it didn't last for long.
