It's all about the reason you Survive

Author's note : as a person who struggle to write and read , i wrote the story in a way that would be easier for me to read ; I wrote actions like this , and Thoughts like this . As someone who has struggle reading, it's easier for me to distinguish when things are written this way

Five hours... she was supposed to get back in two ...

-CHARLIE CHARLIE ! Yelled a kid.
-Billy ! You spooked me !
-Charlie, Its Snack time !
-Sna... Dinner ? Charlie got up and yawned Dinner already? So its been 6 hours ? She thought Are you sure Billy?
-I know how to read a clock, charlie!
-I know you can Sweety. I'm just... I lost track of time, I'm sorry,  tell the others dinner will be a little bit late though!
She went to the kitchen , and started cooking.
Why aren't they back yet...Why...
She got so distracted by her own thoughts that she accidentally cut herself while cooking...
-SNAP .. god it's a heck of a cut...
She tied a bandage around her hand , then heard a noise from the playground.
-Kids , what did we say about playing out late ? As she walked outside , she stopped , seing a face she's never seen before. She grabbed a shovel with shaking hands , not really used to deal with strangers , though she had to protect the kids , Anne was usually the one who took care of talking to strangers , or anything that required some kind of charisma.
-Who are you?
The person backed off.
They had Brown thick hair sticking out of the hood of their burgundy hoodie , They were wearing a mask , covering their mouth and nose , Only leaving their black eyes visible , Charlie tighten her grip on the shovel's handle.
-Are you a thief ? You shouldn't have come here. We know how to defend ourselves . Stand still, sir. And drop your weapons if you have any. She said , trying to sound as confident as possible.
The person sighed and dropped two knives , charlie carefully stepped forward.
-Now ... Step aside , please. I am slowly going to take your weapons ,we will discuss your behavior , you will apologize, then you'll leave. She leaned to get the knives , when the person started running to the door , Charlie ran after them.
-OH NO YOU DON'T ! That person could harm the kids if they wanted to. She ran faster and jumped on the alleged thief , they both fell on the ground , though charlie landing was more gentle.
-Now you better give me an explanation young Man !
The person retorted
-I ain't a Man!
-Then young woman ? I don't know just explain why you're here !
-I'm Not a woman either !
-wh... Oh... she felt clumsy what do I call you then ?
-Doesn't matter , get off me !
-It does , I'm sorry If I misgendered you but you are breaking into our place . I want to make sure you're not a thief .
The new commer sighed
-This is getting Ridiculous... Listen. I AM a thief. I Was there to steal food and supplies from you , because that's how things work now,  you know?
-oh so you're hungry ? I can get you food if you need , But you have to leave then . I don't mind you being around as long as you don't hurt anyone or steal anything she got up , pats on her clothes to clean them up , and reaches her hand out to them. But Anne Won't be so glad to see you around when she comes back so you have to leave quick , and Make sure no one sees you. I'm Charlie , by the way .
They observed the Friendly young woman who was offering them help to get up , she was wearing a long dark green skirt , and a large brown pullover with rolled up sleeves, she had many colorful Bracelet around her wrist and also wore Used Converse , she had an odd style that fitted well with her messy curly black hair and Her freckled pale skin , she had bright green eyes and her nose and cheeks were teinted pink , they decided to get up accepting charlie's help
-Name's... Keysey . And It's they .
-They what ?
-My pronnouns, you idiot ..
-Hey ! Thats rude ! I'm being nice !
She walked back to the knives and took them
-I'm taking that. I was making dinner, so i have to finish it , you're Coming with me. She grabbed their hand and went to the kitchen , pursuing what she had left.
-You're cooking a lot of food there!
-yeah i'm not al- hey ! I ask questions ! You answer . Why are you stealing?
-Told you thats how It works.
-Yeah that's what anne says, Exept she said we dont work like that here. She told me people out there are like that now ...
-Now ? It has always been this way, Charlie. Some people work , others steal .
-Well before people weren't breaking into kindergardens to steal a bunch of Food .
-Hey i was trying to get stuff from here because I thought kindergardens were supposed to be closed !
-Well This one is not . Next time consider Knocking on the door.
-that's not how thieves work.
-I believe everything is just easier when everyone is honnest.
-So You really have no idea how things are .
-You keep saying that , last time i checked there were no rules saying how "it all works", It's just an exuse you made up to look cool while being a bad person .
-It's just obvious that stealing works better than being all nice and working hard.
-I can proove you wrong!
-highly doubt that.
-I'm going to tell Anne about you , and ask her if you can to stay here . Then you'll see being honnest isn't that bad afterall !
-What ? No ! Who the heck is Anne ? You know what , i dont care ! Just give me food already and I'll leave . All I wanna do Is survive . I don't care if ya think being nice to everyone is a good idea .
Charlie turned to them
-Listen there. Anne Is all about the "Don't trust people , be rude" thing and I do believe we should be careful of who we trust to keep the children safe but-
Keysey interrupted.
-You keep childrens here ?!
-Well that's kind of the point of a kindergarden !
-Have you any idea how stupid that is to survive !
-don't say that !
-That's why you're making so much food! why the hell would you keep childrens in time like this!
Charlie was done with Keysey's Pessimist point of view , and she didn't quite appreciate to get lessons from someone who tried to steal from her and her group .She took a spoon and pointed it threatingly to keysey , stepping forward .
-I said LISTEN. I'm aware of the risk. here's my advice about "surviving" since you gave me Soooo many . When you survive you gotta ask yourself ; am I doing it because i'm scared of death or am I doing it because i actually want shit to get better ! I chose to do it to make things better. Those childrens have to get a chance to build a future and If it's all gonna be Selfish people killing and stealing each other to survive then no one is going to survive at all ! You might think you're smart because you can hold a knife or whatever but you failed to break Into a kindergarden, and Managed to get food anyway because SOMEONE is actually being nice ! so you better be greatful not everyone out there is as selfish and Blind as you are ! She grabbed a bowl and filled it with the soup she just made and hands it to them
-Eat. And leave if Living like that is what you want .
She left with the cooking pot and closed the door
-Kids ! Dinner's ready
Keysey looked at his bowl , still shocked of what just happened.
What the hell did I get myself into...
