Broken Strings

When the past just won't let you go.

"Sorry Beam maybe next time. Go now I know Kit, he is probably whining now waiting for you." Forth

Beam is acting casual but he felt his heart is being pricked by small needles. Forth seems not happy to see him or to even extend more casual talks with him.

He want to ask Forth a lot of things. But it's like Forth don't really want to be associated with Beam again. Of course, they are in a public place. Being seen with him might cause another trouble for Forth, that thought is the only justification Beam can think as of this moment. Why Forth refuses his invitation. Forth is still very well known despite being away for years.

"Okay I understand.Nice to see you. I'll be going then." Beam

And without looking back Beam just walk back to the parking lot.

He was in front of his friend when Phana's inquiry hits him.

"Are those tears Beam? Did you cry?" Phana is staring at him like a detective seeking for lies.

Beam smiles and laughs at his friend.

"Silly Phana! Just some dust caught in my eyes." Beam in his bright aura.

"Are you sure Beam?" Phana is a bit worried.

"Stop interrogating me at this hour Pha. I am starving! You will end up crying yourself if I lost my patience because I am really hungry right now. So shoo! And just drive! See you both at our favorite restaurant." With that Beam resigns the topic and enter his own car to drive.

Beam is about to enter his office when a colleague told him he had a visitor waiting for him at the lobby. Beam's brows furrows. He is afraid that it is Forth's Dad again. He don't want to ruin his day by talking to him. He is tired, he just got out from a long hour operation. He is not in a mood to listen to the old man. Still Beam went to the lobby. He still need to be sure it was Forth's Dad looking for him.

But Beam is wrong.

It was Lam , Forth's bestfriend waiting for him.

It was a long silence between them, when finally Lam breaks it.

"Nice to see you Beam." Lam

"Nice to see you too Lam, need anything ?" Beam doesn't really know how to react to this meeting, that he knows he sounded off.

"your way too direct, not  even happy to see me?  I thought I am more than just your ex boyfriend's best friend.Or am I the only one who thinks that way?" Lam cannot even hide his disappoinment.

Beam smiles, this time he stand up, walk fastly  and pull Lam for a big hug.

Lam is just like another brother to Beam. He remembers how Lam always take his side when he and Forth argues.

The hug just feel so welcoming and Beam naturally give up all his self made walls, because this man is Lam,
his forever brother.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound cold. Forgive me. I was just shocked, its been three years. You know I love you like my own brother right?" Beam still hugging Lam.

"I know, I'm sorry if I caught you off guard. You might still be feeling awkward talking with me.

I know its late, but sorry if I can not do more for you and Forth back then.I am so incompetent." Lam whose sadness is obvious as if all those things that happen were just yesterday's affair.

"Don't say it Lam. You are the best. You are always a friend and a great support to Forth in times I cannot even be with him." Beam

'But the both of you, still broke up." Lam
