Selena's P.O.V.

I woke up, all covered in sweat. I was breathing heavily because of the dream I had just seen. Without even noticing, I brushed my mid-night blue hair off my face and touched my lightning scar, it had been there from as long as I could remember. I sat up on my bed, the dream which I had just seen still in my head. I had heard my father's yell and seen a sweep of red hair. Soon I felt protective arms wrap around me,"Mummy Papa loves you baby, be brave, be strong" my mother whispered in my ears as I was placed in a craddling bed.

 Bang!

"Do not harm Selena ..... please..... No! Not Selena, take me, take me instead" my mother plead.

"Get aside woman" , a snake-like male voice said.

"Avada Kendra"

I felt shiver ran down my spine as my mother's scream reached my ears. I breathed heavily, I felt an urge to scream, to cry so that I could get rid of this dream which has haunted me for more than a year.

Life was different for me. I had shoulder-long straight raven blue hair and my eyes were sarraphine blue. I looked nothing like my uncle and aunt who have blonde hair and soft brown eyes. They told me that I looked like my mother but unfortunately I was never able to find much about my parents. My aunt always started crying at the mention of my mother as my mother was the only blood relative she had. She knows little about her past as she told me that my mother had studied in a boarding school for 7 years when she was young. Therefore, the sisters never got a chance to know each other properly. I had heard from them that my parents had died in a car crash, but my dreams said otherwise, and I did not believe a single word of the story. It was a murder I know it but, of course, I never mentioned it to my guadians.

Checking my bedside clock I realized it was 5 am. Feeling no need to sleep again, I went to my bedroom window and opened it.

Why me?

I asked myself again and again until I heard movement from downstairs and mumbled to myself, "About time". I ate a few strawberries, took a quick shower, brushed my teeth and hair and headed downstairs, leaving my hair open to be dried by the wind. Looking at my bed I made a mental note to make it after breakfast. It were Summer Holidays, therefore, I had no school. Even though I get to spend time with my aunt and uncle, I had no real friends as I studied in a boarding school and did not knew my neighbours. My uncle and aunt loved me as their own daughter but were not able to spend as much time with me. I couldn't blame them, since we were an average family and earned from the work of our own hands. Sometimes, I felt lonely and that was the time the death of my parents haunted me more than ever, thinking how my life would have been if only they would had survived. I reached the kitchen and found my uncle reading a newspaper sitting at his usual spot on the dining table and my aunt cooking breakfast. I smiled and greeted both of them, as I ran to help my aunt put dishes onto the table. Suddenly, an owl appeared from the kitchen window and began to circle the ceiling. My aunt screamed and ran to my uncle who quickly took her in his embrace.

How Romantic!

Wait, did I actually said that, I have to control my stupid teenage hormones! The owl circled until it spotted me and landed on the back of the chair in front of me. I noticed that a letter tangled on its left leg.

Strange

I reached for it as the owl remained still and patient. Once I had untied it, the owl hooted happily and left through the kitchen window. I looked at the letter in my hand, it was emerald green and on it was written in a slant writing... my name?

Totally Strange!

I turned to look at my aunt who was silently crying in my confused-looking uncle's chest. His eyes met mine and I signed, making a face that clearly said, "Really?" He shrugged, "Really" he responded with his eye brows raised earning an eye-roll from me. I motioned him to comfort her. First he blushed a 50 shades of red but then he started to comfort her, patting her on the back. Yes, if you ask me my uncle can be the shyest person on Earth who turned red as his wife started to hug him even more tightly. But to be honest, he was the funniest person I have ever met and I do not feel shy even for a second to share any of my secrets with him. Although I had been left at my aunt's doorstep when she was unmarried but by marrying her he accepted the both of us. And he did not at all regretted it. I looked at the letter with which I was fiddling in my fingers. I opened it and read it aloud to escape from the awkwardness of the whole situation.
