Isaac sat on the couch, smoking a cigarette and watching the cloud of grey float towards the plain canvis in front of him. He had been sitting there for an hour, staring at the canvis in a daze. He had woken up early due to a dream, a dream that inspired him to paint.

"Fuck," he sighed and threw his cigarette to the floor, where it lay on front of the canvis stand.

He stood up and walked to the kitchen, opening the fridge and getting out a glass of milk he had left from last night. He took in a deep breath and exhaled it before drinking the milk. He put the glass down on the table, sighing once again. Suddenly he heard his phone ring from his bedroom. He walked to the room and picked up his phone. He smiled slightly when he saw the icon.

"Hey Josh, what's up?" Isaac asked.

"Nothing much, I just really needed a favour from you." Josh said from the other line.

"What now?"

"Well, one of the art teachers for one of the Devoire school collection quit," he chuckled, "said she's had an epiphany and then she left. I need you to be the new temporary art teacher."

Isaac sighed, irritated at the thought of teaching immature children art.

"No I-"

"Here me out. Firstly it's not permanent, just for a month or so and secondly you owe me one, remember?"

"Can't you find someone else? I'm busy with my own work."

Isaac felt the emptiness inside him grow as he walked back into the kitchen. He hated how he lied about his art. He wasn't busy, he hadn't been busy in months.

"I know you are lying, last week you kept complaining about not being able to find the right thing to inspire you. This could inspire you, plus I need a teacher urgently. It will take to long to interview new ones."

Isaac bit his bottom lip and leaned against the counter, thinking about the option. Inspiration?

"Isaac, you still there?"

He blinked continuously as his thoughts were disturbed by his friend's voice.

"I'll do it, when do I start?"

Josh gasped softly at the sudden change in attitude. He actually expected himself to do more begging and pleading with his cold hearted friend. He was relieved slightly at how submissive to the idea Isaac became.

"Oh, how about tomorrow? Today you can come by and check the place out as well as the students." Josh suggested.

"Hmmm," Isaac rubs the back on his neck softly, "okay then. I'll be there in forty minutes."

"Great."

With that Isaac hung up the call and put his phone on the counter. He sighed softly as he walked back into his lounge, staring at the blank canvas once again. He looked down at the cigarette, narrowing his eyes. Inspiration?

He walked up to the canvas and picked up the cigarette before walking to the kitchen bin to throw it away. He made his way into his bedroom. He turned to look at himself in the full length mirror, ruffling his long brown hair. He blinked, noticing how his dull hazel eyes had suddenly brightened up. He ran his fingers softly over his tattoo which sat just under his eye.
