Here I sit. In silence. I sit at the diner table opposite my father "And how was your day?" asked my dad. "Good" I said. And silence again. This is how it goes every night. Me and my dad never were really close but after the dead of my mother, he feels like a stranger to me. My mother was my hero, my best friend, my only best friend. I thought I knew her the best but I didn't. She died of a drug overdose. And I was only nine years old. My life has never been the same since then. I think about her every day and I miss her so much. She was the only person I could tell everything. She was my safe place. And I'm still questioning every day why she did it.

"I have to go to my work, see you tomorrow" said my dad. "Bye" I said. He walked out of the house and I heard the door closing. I know he's lying. He's going to a friend and he's gonna get drunk. He's an alcoholic. He started drinking when my mom died. I'm wondering how he still can be alive.

I'm done with eating and go upstairs to my bedroom. I crap my laptop and I lie down on my bed and continue watching my series.

*30 minutes later*

From Riley:
Hey do you have time to facetime?

Me:
Yeah sure

Riley is my ibf. I've known her for 5 years. She's my best friend. It just feels like I know her in real life but I wish I did. I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and she lives in York, England. She knows me the best and she has always been there for me and she's my favourite person, I love her so much.

*2 hours later*

"So it's going great with you and Will?"

"Yeah we're already dating for 5 months and
he's the best I could ever wish for"

"Aww that's so cute, I'm so happy for you!"

"Soooo... are you crushing on anyone Chloe?"

"Nope, single for life"

"Hahaha I'm sure you'll find someone"

My phone starts to ring.

"Who's calling you?"

I pick up my phone and see an anonymous number is calling me.

"I don't know, an anonymous number is calling me"

"Are you gonna pick up? Don't worry about me I'll wait"

"Okay I'm gonna pick up"

I pressed the green button and said "Hello?"

"Hello is this Chloe?"

"Yes I am Chloe"

"Oh hi Chloe I'm david and I'm a cop"

I'm so confused, what happened, and why is a cop calling me?!

"Your dad had a car crash, he's in the hospital now but they don't know if they can safe him"

I stopped with breathing for a second.

"I'm sorry Chloe"

My head is about to explode.

"Chloe are you still there?"

"Yes" I said with tears in my eyes.

"Is it ok if I call you back when I have more information"

"Yes" I said with a tear rolling down my cheek.

"What happened!? Why are you crying?!" asked Riley

"My dad had a car crash" And more tears are rolling down my cheek.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry. Is he still alive?"

"For now, yes. He's in the hospital. They call me back when they have more information."

"I'm so sorry Chloe, it will be ok."

"I hope so."

Me and my dad aren't that close at all but I don't want him dead.
