Midwest Ramble

Spouting sugar is what I like,

It's better than, "Go take a hike"

Rare is the girl who keeps her cool

In the midwest melee, mix of fools.

Around the bend and under the tree

You can find little ol' me

Teetering on the brink of brine

Salting the weeds with tears o' mine.

Who's to know that rambling's fun

Good for you! says the crow in the sun

I'll wait for the eve, then it's my turn

For now, carry on without concern.

Nighttime rambles are made for us

Treading water with a layer of crust

Dustbowl dunes and renegade loons

Seeking shelter in the lagoons.

Oh no, I've overstayed

Forgot that I had it made

Rambling's fun: Amble and ramble,

But now, betting on a gamble.

Lay down my heart next to you

Lay it over and under for two

Speech of the modern day ramble

Love me or not for the shambles.
