The first day of school dawned bright and beautiful. Isabelle was one of the first out of bed. Throwing on her school robes and putting her hair in a ponytail. Skyler was also out of bed early, explaining that she was just as excited for classes as Isabelle was. They both went along with a prefect to the great hall where breakfast would be. They took their seat at the Ravenclaw table and Isabelle grabbed some toast and started to spread it with butter and jam. After a while the hall slowly filled with the rest of the students. Once everybody had arrived the owls came in with their packages and letters for the students. Wynter swooped by dropping a letter right in front of Isabelle. It was a letter from her mother. It read as follows:
Dear Isabelle,
I hope you are enjoying yourself (even though I know classes only start today). You must tell me all about your first day and what house you were sorted into (I personally think you made it into Ravenclaw like myself). I don't have much time as I'm about to leave to go shopping, but give my love to Ben and be safe!
Love,
Mum.
"Who's that from?" Skyler asked as she ate a spoonful of porridge with cinnamon. "My mum" Isabelle answered. Before she knew it though she and the rest of the Ravenclaw's were being escorted to their first class. "What's your class schedule?" Isabelle asked Skyler, "Transfiguration with Professor McGonaggle" Skyler answered. "Same" Isabelle said, she was secretly happy that from a quick glance at Skyler's schedule they had all the same classes, she wanted to be friends with her for sure. Once they arrived for their lesson it appeared that they were sharing it with the Gryffindors. She saw the boy from yesterday, Albus something she thought his name was. She took a seat with Skyler close to the front of the class. "Alright! Everybody take their seats and settle down!" The professor exclaimed, "I am headmistress McGonaggle, but you may call me professor and I am your transfiguration teacher". Isabelle was drawing out her transfiguration book and wand along with the rest of the class as the professor continued "Today we will be starting with something simple..." Before long class had ended without any major problems, except a boy named Frank Longbottom who accidentally did a spell from another book and ended up making all the feathers they were using fly around the room. The day went by quickly and soon she and Skyler were heading toward the great hall for dinner. They were both chatting and laughing about the day suddenly Isabelle felt herself trip and she fell with a thud on the floor. Luckily she caught herself before she did to much damage. She looked up to see a boy with messy black hair and brown eyes looking at her with a mischievous grin on his face. "Whoops", he exclaimed, "didn't see you there!" Isabelle could tell he was obviously lying, just from seeing where he was standing she was sure that he had been the one to trip her. "Well you could at least help me up" she told him. The boy simply smirked and reached out his hand. She grabbed it and stood up. He held hers for a moment longer before letting go, and then sticking it out again and saying "the names James". Isabelle took his and said "Isabelle", the boy then let go of her hand and started to walk away. "Well he was rude!" Skyler exclaimed, "I wonder who he was?". Isabelle didn't really care. The rest of the day went by well, but she just couldn't get that encounter out of her thoughts. So that night she went to bed in an unhappy mood.
