Chapter 6

'Vee'

As Alex and i sat as the food was served, i all of a sudden herd a beeping that made me freeze and my spine run cold. I lifted up the hem of my dress and stared i horror. Glowing and beeping was the alert knife. I pulled it out a flipped open the blade. Alex looked over at me and i knew i was ghostly pale. On the blade, it read. Jade. Woods by the ball. I leapt from my seat and dashed towards the porch. This caused a commotion. Alex stopped me before i leapt over the banister.

"Wait. Were are you going?" Tears were in my eyes.

"Jade is in trouble. I'm not letting another one of my friends get hurt." With that i pulled my arm free and i leapt over the railing.

I felt only a moment of free fall, before i landed and phased. I shot forward. Growling out to nothing in particular. I slowed when i reached the woods. I phased back and began to move causisly. Half way in, i felt some one grab me from behind and cover my mouth. I ripped free and spun around pulling out tenebris as i did. I relaxed when i saw jade, a finger to her lips.

"Fallow my scent." She whispered, and pulled a cloak around her body.

She dissapeared. The cloak from Dr finneck. I obeyed and began sniffing to fallow her scent. I didn't need to phase to fallow her scent. We came into a moon washed clearing and i froze. I could hear rustling in the tree's. I felt jade step in beside me. "I tryed to get us out, but i didn't realise they were fallowing me still." She mumbled in dismay.

"Go get Alex." I said. Her scent began to fade.

"Who is out there?" I called. I don't want to get into a fight in my ball dress.

'Jade'

I ran through the tree's, scrambling in my dress to get back. As i reached the hall, i made a pillar of rock rise beneath me feet so i was at the balcony. The first person i saw was Alex.

"Vee needs you, she is in the tree's just over there." I panted and pointed.

As Alex registered what i said, he jumped down, phased into his wolf and shot off. When i turned my attention back to the party, i saw Elliot, Rixon and my sister rushing towards me. As Elliot gathered me in a hug, i huffed a sigh. -i hope vee is alright-

'Vee'

Men began to step out of the tree's and surrounded me compleatly. I sighed and changed the dagger into the sword. It was my preferred fighting weapon.

"So i see raychel has set her next target?" I groweled. I didn't even get a second word in before the came at me. What did they want from me. I fended the off but i got knocked over, the sword falling from my had. A man closed his hands around my throat. He began to squeeze and i felt my air way being shut. I struggled and tryed to get the sword that lay only inches from my hand. i couldn't breath. I struggled but it was no use. I felt my body going limp as red dots appeared at the edge of my vision. I desperately reached for the sword. I couldn't use my powers. I had tryed to shift but something was stopping me. My darkness abylitys weren't working. My dress was covered in dirt, my hair was falling out of the braid.

"Vee!" Some one shouted. The mans grip loosened for only a split second and i used this opportunity to move the few centimeters over, grab the sword and Pierce it through his heart. Blood splattered my dress, great.

'Alex'

I had distracted the man and vee had gotten free and killed him. She sat coughing and gasping for air. I could see bruises all round her neck. She was still hacking when i reached her side. She managed to steady her breathing and spoke.

"Why do they pick.." she coughed. "Me to fight."

I sighed and helped her to stand. I looked her over. She was unharmed other that the bruises on her neck and arm. The scars from a previous injury still remained. Her dress was filthy and her hair was now out of the braid and hanging loose on her shoulders.

"I cant use my powers!" She sputtered.

I tryed to shift and i managed to. She stared at my wolf in shock. She then tried and her black wolf replaced her. -i swear, i couldn't. I tryed but i just couldn't.- we phased back and stood staring at each other.

"What am i gunna do my dress is ruined." She coughed.

"I... umm..." i said.

I really dident know.

"I've got your solution." Some one said, causing vee to spin and point the sword at the tree's.

'Vee'

Some one stepped out of the tree's. It was Carmen. I relaxed. She held a bag in her hand. She was being trailed by azura.

"You OK." Azura breathed a sigh of relief.

Carmen handed me a bag. "Quick change into this so we can catch who won prom king and queen."

Azura made a cave of rock around me before i could object. Using the light of the moon, i changed and told them to lower the wall. When i came into view, alex gasped for the second time tonight. The dress was the exact same as before, just with out the beeding, except for the wolf. Also the dress colour was now a darker blue.

"Good it fits. Alex phase and let vee ride on your beck so the dress doesent get wrecked. Lets go." Carmen demanded.

I rolled my eyes and Carmen phased and azura hopped on. Alex phased and i climbed on. We reached the party and azura made a pillar of rock so we could reach the balcony. We made it to our seats with out being noticed. They were just beginning to anounc the winners of the awards.
