The Devil Within

 have to go to a new boarding school today. I've been kicked out of all of the other public schools that are at least 3 hours from my hours. So, I'm stuck in this boarding school. It's going to be a year-round school so, I don't have to go home. That's supposed to be the best part of this "deal" I had with my parents. Mostly my mom. I've caused many natural disasters in my former schools. tsunamis in the hallways. Tornados in the science lab.

I was walking in the hallways of my new school. "hey, are you new?" I hear a deep voice ask me. "um, yeah. It's my first day here and I don't know where my class is" I hand him my schedule and he studies the classes. "you have all the same classes I do. Just follow me and you'll know where to go. Unless, of course, you'd rather have a popular friend. Then go hang out with the cheerleaders." I stared at him for the longest time. I could see his empty green eyes and the loneliness behind them. "I'd rather not hang with the cheerleaders. That wouldn't work out well. Not with me" He smiled so wide, I thought his face was going to split in half.

In class, I sat in a corner by myself. I prefer to be alone because if I make a lot of friends, that's a lot of goodbyes to say later. It's better if I isolate myself and have a low profile. If nobody knows who I am, no rumors will be spread about me in the future. I'll leave soon. I always do.

"Hi, I'm Mrs. Hamilton and I will be your Language Arts teacher this year. Everyone, take your seats and choose wisely. The current seats you are in are the ones you will keep for the rest of the school year." I can tell by the look on Jacob's face that he's got a question. "can we switch places right now? Like, if we preferred sitting next to someone else?" Ms. Hamilton nodded and Jacob moved places so he could sit next to me. "I'm gonna do this all day" I smiled and said, "At least I am well-warned." Then class began.
