Cassandra was feeling lonely.

It had been a month since she left Corona to find her way and having spent most of her time in the past couple of years in the company of a very talkative princess, the constant silence felt odd. Even when she was trying to find a way to defeat Rapunzel she had been with Zhan Tiri. Granted, an evil demon who manipulates you isn't great company, but now that she was completely alone she found herself somewhat missing Rapunzel's excited questions and perpetual singing. She even caught herself thinking that she maybe wouldn't mind talking to Eugene or Lance. She silenced that thought quickly though.

She was still able to keep in touch with them, thanks to Rapunzel getting a couple of enchanted message bottles from Calliope, although it was hard to convince the Spire's rather annoying keeper to lend one to Cass after the incident with the mind trap. However, Rapunzel had managed and now Cassandra had three letter scrolls in her bag, two from Rapunzel, and one from Varian. She had responded to both of her friends, but was still waiting on more letters from them.

Cass pushed these thoughts back and brought herself back to reality as Owl flew down and perched on Fidella's head, hooting at Cass to ask for a snack.

Cassandra patted the little bird affectionately and gave him a handful of seeds. Owl happily ate them and settled down on her shoulder for a nap.

"Well, I have you and Fidella, I shouldn't be too lonely out here," she murmured, gazing at the gorgeous forest around her.

A movement in the corner of the eyes caught her attention and she pulled the reigns, stopping Fidella. She glanced around, trying to figure out what she had seen. She saw something move again, something too big to be a squirrel or a rabbit. She tugged Fidella's reigns, following the shadowy shape into the forest.

She followed it into a clearing, where she lost sight of it. Cass looked around, trying to pinpoint where it had gone when she heard a girl's voice.

"Your horse is missing a shoe."

Cassandra's head shot up and she peered into the bushes suspiciously.

"Who's there?" She called, drawing her sword.

The voice spoke again.

"Wow, you got aggressive quick. No worries, you won't need to use that unless you really like cutting wood."

Cass spun in the direction the voice had come from, but saw nothing. Despite the mystery girl's assurances, she didn't lower her sword.

"Up here." The girl said, sounding a tad happy that Cass hadn't been able to spot her.

Cass looked up and saw the girl hanging by her legs from a tree branch, upside down. The girl looked about 16, with thick brown hair tied up in a bun, and although her right eye was covered with a black eyepatch, her deep gray eye had an almost mischievous sparkle in it that reminded Cass a bit of Rapunzel.

The girl grinned at Cass and waved. "Your owl's cute and I like your cape! You could probably put the sword away, I don't think there's any wild animals, and I don't bite."

Cass was slightly taken aback by this girl's friendly but sarcastic nature. Still on her guard, she sheathed her sword and dismounted Fidella.

"Who are you?" Cass asked, folding her arms and giving the girl a slight glare.

The girl pulled herself on top of the branch she'd been hanging from and leaped down. It would have been an impressive jump had she not landed in a bush and fallen over.

She popped up again, brushing leaves off herself. "I'm Kamira," She said, walked up to Cass, and extended her hand. "And you are?"

Cass considered the girl for a moment, then shook her hand. "I'm Cassandra."
