Screams echoed through the corridor, but all I could hear was my hot breath wafting, my feet tapping loudly against the concrete, and my sobs as I ran as fast as I could. "Mom..Cony...Breaer.." I had whimpered out the names of my loved one's who had just passed. I ran and ran, trying to ignore the people yelling for help, trying to ignore the child screeching in the distance, But I just couldn't stop thinking about if that was Cony. I stopped, even knowing there was danger close by. I turned directions, towards the screaming child begging for help. Tears flooded from my piercing blue eyes, and that's when I saw it. My eyes widened, as a giant-like human, no less than 50 feet tall slowly crushed a small child. "S-Stop! STOP IT LET HER GO!"I screamed, unsheathing my deceased father's sword and holding it shakily. The giant dropped the child and bent down to my level. I quickly stabbed it in the eye, and pulled the sword out with little issue. The giant roared in pain and I picked up the child. She was female, no more than 6 years old, and she owned a couple bruised ribs...and sharped, pointed ears. I could care less what she is, I only sheathed my sword, placed her in my arms bridal style, and booked it. Hot breath...screams...footsteps...sobs...calls for help...corpses...species I had never seen before.

I inhaled sharply as I woke up, choking out a scream. My eyes were wide, as memories flooded through my traumatized brain. I whimpered and held myself. It had been 20 years since the incident, tears welled in my eyes. I was only 19 then, I got married at eighteen to a wealthy man named Breaer. He was 26, but I was in love with him through and through. He was a doctor, and I was a knight. He was helping birth a little girl, Cory, but the mother died, and had no Husband. We took in the baby...They both died that day. I whined and hugged the pillow. A female, 26 years old barged in, and quickly walked over, enveloping me in her comforting arms.

Meet Zuni, She's the little girl I saved that day. I raised her as my own child, but had to hide her from the world due to the fact she was an elf. Yep, you heard that right, she is a full blown elf, who had come here when the worlds merged. She comforts me every time I have a nightmare, and I do her. We were both affected greatly by the incident. Her family had been shot to death by humans, who were probably scared to death. The poor people. So many lives were lost that day...it was truly a tragedy.

"Hey, dad. It's okay..." she cooed me with soothing words, holding me in her frail arms. She was a very small woman, nearly five foot 2 inches, but she's definitely not weak. I taught her everything I know about swordsmanship, and she found out 12 years ago she could use nature magic so that's cool. I nodded and slowly calmed down, my breathing steadying.

"Yeah...yeah it's okay." We live in the mountains, in a cabin I made with my bare hands. Zuni tried to help but she was 6 and traumatized, but she did hand me screws and stayed out of my way when I needed it. She was a good kid, still is.

I sigh and sit up on my own, "I'm gonna go make some tea...and some breakfast. Do you want some?" I asked her with my scratchy voice. She nodded with no voiced reply. We both stood and I yawned, walking to the kitchen. The cabin isn't very big, so I only had to walk across it, which is around 20 meters. I rub my eye and get a kettle going with some water.

'boom....boom!.....BOOM..' Suddenly, there were explosions, and they were close. Zuni grabbed her sword, and I, mine. We storm outside. "Goblins." I growl angrily. The pests are hated by both worlds and are on a chaotic side on their own. They love explosives, and have some of the best technology I have ever seen.  I hear their high pitched laughter, like hyenas.

BOOM. We fall back onto our behinds, and we groan in pain. That was close, too close.
