It was a summer afternoon, Paula was always happy. She had the heart of a pure flower. Just always happy. Yet mature than most children her age. She had to grow up fast, because in her world. That's what needed to be done to survive.
"Mama where am I going"
"Sweetheart you and your sister are going somewhere better"
Little did the child knew what fate would hand her. She didn't understand that her mama was getting rid of her.
She said "ok mama" Her mother smile at her, but in a sad way. She thought her mama was going with her, and she wasn't wrong about that.
Her mother was going to drop her and her sister off at some strange new place, and she wouldn't be staying with them. She would leave them. They would never see home again.
"Mama is little sister coming to? " She said with her little curious eyes.
"Yes dear" her mother replied.
Her mama had braided her hair, and kissed her forehead "Mwah!"
She was ever so excited. It would only be a matter of time. Until she realized mama wasn't staying she'd leave right after she dropped her off.
"Hey,you be a big girl and take good care of your little sister" her mama said
"Papa what's mama mean?" She said.
Her daddy wasn't home much, but it wasn't because he didn't love his family. It's because he had to make some money. So his family could survive. He looked at his daughter and than his wife.
"Mama means you and your sister will go to America" He said in a sudden voice.
"What's America?" Paula asked
"It's a place where you'll have everything that we can't give you" mama said.
"What about big sister and big brother are they coming too mama? She was ever so curious.
"How about we get ready for bed. Child you asked so many questions."
Her whole family laughed but not at her. They laughed with her.
"Ok mama!" She said
Her tomorrow was going to be life changing. Her and her little sister were going on a life changing journey. She didn't know,her little sister didn't know. Her mother and father knew.
There attentions were out of love for there young girls.
