It's weird but she's used to it.
Seeing these red strings floating in the air where the end of it is unknown had been a normal thing for Natasha now.
At first it scared her. But after doing some research at such a young age about it made her realize that those were simply called "Red Strings".
The red strings were tied to a person's pinky finger and its end is tied up to the person who he is destined to be. It cannot be cut unless one dies.
She's not the only one who could see them but those who's special like her are very rare to find.
She can't manipulate nor touch the strings either. She can just see them. She also proven what she researched right since the red strings she is seeing is also seen to her parents' fingers and some of the couples outside her home.
It always made her smile seeing those who are destined get together. At the age of thirteen she is already envious.
She can clearly see hers and tried following it but seems like the person tied with the same string to her is rather far away.
It saddens her but only a bit since it shows that he's there and alive. Just not in the same country as her.
Five more years passed and still no sign of her getting close to her soulmate. She's starting to lose hope as she kept getting older.
She was in deep panic one day. She can no longer see the strings! It made her worry but then she also read on one of the articles that being able to see he strings won't last forever.
"I guess this is what they mean about not lasting forever."
She's now eighteen years old and an exchanged student from Russia to America. It's her first time stepping foot in he country but she's less nervous because she's confident that she's intelligent enough to know she can pull this one off.
She can speak different languages too and that includes English. She's pretty fluent at it and can speak using its accent as well.
"Good morning, Miss Natasha Romanoff." The professor greeted.
It was supposed to be Natalia Romanova but the English translation of her name is Natasha Romanoff so they just went with it.
"Good morning to you too, Professor." She greeted. "Do you need anything?"
The Professor chuckled at her straightforwardness and nodded.
"Yes. Indeed I have." He answered. "There's this new student named Steve and he's a bit different from the other males in this school."
He showed her a pic of the guy named Steve and saw he is different. Well not that different but he is too thin and short for a guy. She might be even taller with this one.
"I want you to be his guide for a while. Just until he got used to it. He's been indoors most of his life so it must be hard for him socializing already."
Natasha crossed her arms.
"What's my compensation for it?" She said with an eyebrow raised.
"I'll buy you a box of strawberry shortcake." The professor replied. "So we have a deal?"
Natasha smiled. "Deal!"
He said that Steve won't be coming to school in a few weeks so her cake will have to wait too.
She can no longer see the strings and she was really disappointed because she always wonder if her soulmate lives here in America. She will no longer know.
